biLLyBuFFs Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 Yeah, Dallas kicker looked like he had money on the game/points. No other explanation at the NFL level. Quote

Dude missed 4 extra points in a row last night. You can't argue that is not PURE PSYCHOLOGY. And yet some people rely so heavily on statistics and refuse to accept that psychology is a HUGE part of sports, even at the highest levels. Missed 5 in a row going back to Week #18: "TAMPA, Fla. -- Dallas Cowboys kicker Brett Maher missed four straight extra points in Monday night's NFC wild-card game against Tampa Bay, becoming the first player in NFL history to miss that many in a game since 1932, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Maher finally converted on his fifth attempt in the fourth quarter. His misses were the only thing going wrong for the Cowboys, who beat the Buccaneers 31-14. Maher made 50 of 53 extra points in the regular season, missing his last one in Week 18 -- meaning he had missed five in a row until making one. He was wide right on his first two kicks Monday night, pulled his third try wide left and then hit the top of the right upright on his fourth attempt. His fifth went right down the middle. Three missed extra points were the most in NFL playoff history. Maher was solid on field goals this season, going 29 of 32 (90.6%) -- including 9 of 11 from 50 yards or more, with a long of 60." ~The Associated Press contributed to this story. Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 Looks like more of a marker than something to place the ball on. Probably a visual que to know where to place the ball. Regardless it is illegal. Quote

No it’s definitely to get the ball up an 1/8 of an inch Tools like this have been used in high school football and college until the 80s it’s absolutely to help get the ball a fraction of the grass Quote
ExiledInIllinois Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 Word out of Ksnsas City? I wonder if Butker cheater last year? Hmmmmm: "Kansas City. Harrison Butker made 90.1 percent of his career field goal attempts prior to this season. He’s only connected on 75 percent this season (18 of 24), with three missed extra points part of the problem, too. The issue has become so controversial in Kansas City that former punter/holder Dustin Colquitt, who spent 15 seasons with the Chiefs (2005-2019), took to social media and local radio to criticize current punter/holder Tommy Townsend for his holding technique. ..." Betcha Tommy Townsend isn't cheating! Quote
bobobonators Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 Buttlicker got injured this year. Probably simplest explanation for his down year. Quote
