Pete Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 I took a film class in college and saw a bunch of these- Persona, Bonnie and Clyde, Casablanca, Double Indeminty, Dr Strangeglove. One great older film we watched in that class which is not on this list is "M"- fantastic film. http://www.time.com/time/2005/100movies/th...plete_list.html
Pete Posted May 23, 2005 Author Posted May 23, 2005 Just counted-I have seen 38 of the films. I will have to do some adding to my Netflix list
SilverNRed Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 They omitted Raiders of the Lost Ark....so that list sucks.
macdaddy Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 No Animal House? Meatballs? Blazing Sadles? Vacation? Blues Bros? Emmanuelle? WTF
brihs2005 Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 Just saw "M" this past week. Great Film. Am watching Metropolis this week, hopefully it is just as good.
VABills Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 22 for me. With a couple older movies that I think I have seen on AMC, but not sure.
envirojeff Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 Can't be the greatest! Top Secret and Better Off Dead arn't on this stupid list. Jeff
brihs2005 Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 12 here... have a few on the way this week though Yes, i am morally superior for watching good movies!

BRH Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 Stripes isn't on this list. They need to go back to the drawing board. I've seen 21 of these, by the way.
rockpile Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 I have seen 28 for sure. On MY top 100: Wizard of Oz The Longest Day The Day the Earth Stood Still Labyrinth Field of Dreams Silverado I could go on, but we all have our favorites.... This is just two guys opinion.
pkwwjd Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 Why is the Lord of the Rings Trilogy and Godfather series taken as one movie, but Star Wars not? When a movie is designed to be part of a sequence, it would seem that affects how each individual movie should be viewed. I agree with grouping movies, when they are designed that way. Star Wars' legacy should hinge on the total package, not just Episode IV.
stuckincincy Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 Lert's see - they ignored My Fair Lady, Ben-Hur, All Quiet on The Western Front, Harvey, You Can't Take It With You, Shane, etc., and included A Hard Day's Night and The Fly???? Philistines...

Godfather III was, quite rightly, left out. The LOTR saga was included in its entirety no doubt because all three of the movies were worthy of mention. I think all but the most die-hard Star Wars fans would agree that there were at least one or two episodes out of the six that shouldn't be in anyone's top 100.
Alaska Darin Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 Because basically the other 5 sucked. 342523[/snapback] Not true. "The Empire Strikes Back" is probably the best Star Wars movie. Though the other 3 that I've seen did pretty much suck.
