I have no idea what McDaniel means by "compounding variables" and "no setbacks", so I don't think anyone could begin to guess.

In the Tua thread I posted a couple links about Kevin Kolb.  Kolb suffered a couple of concussions with Philly and with AZ that looked like nothing much, pretty routine, but kept him out for weeks.  Then he reportedly suffered a concussion with the Bills in preseason that took him 8 MONTHS to recover from and has caused him lasting effects including ringing in his ears, light sensitivity causing headaches, and short-term memory loss.

It's entirely possible that Tua is suffering similar lingering effects.

Crosby in the NHL had one of those.  He was out for an extended period of time.  I think we have gotten used to the 2 weeks or less routine of the NFL.

Idk how they start him potentially missing three starting offensive linemen either.  Even if he has no more lingering concussion effects, the reinjury risk is pretty high

There are not enough practices left to clear him before Sunday. That’s why he’s out. But Bridgewater might play.

Lots of Miami OL on the DNP list along with Mostert.

Without a huge QB threat, are people still expecting the Dolphins to "pound the rock" and sustain long drives?

Well...they do have a WR group that is probably among the best, if not THE best, at being able to take a short pass and break big yards on it.  That was a big part of Hill's threat in KC.  At any time, Mahomes could throw a little slant or a screen and he could gain 30, 40, 50 yds on it or take it for a TD

That wasn't really the Dolphins game with Tua (18th in YAC) but, it might be their game with Thompson or Bridgewater.

Just a random thought - The best thing about the announcement that Tua will not play is that we are spared a week's worth of incessent whining about the the great Miami offense and weapons and the Bills inability to contain them, and the constant ball washing of Mike McDaniel, Boy Genius coming from the national media and the self loathing Bills fans around here.  Perhaps we can all just relax and enjoy the butt whipping to come.  There will be plenty of time come Sunday night to twist our collective panties into a knot over the juggernaut known as the Bengals.

Yeah but now we’re in for a whole year of Dolphin fans “what ifs” telling us we’re lucky he was hurt or we wouldn’t have won the Super Bowl. I rather just steam roll them Sunday with Tua then suffer a year of that. *wink

Anyone care to take a guess at how the defensive philosophy might be different with no Tua?

Double down of the McFraiser style we’ve come to love and loathe?

More zone, less pressures? More pressures, tighter press?

More mixed coverages?

There are, actually, if he's been "getting sweaty" (Stage 2) already.

So it's either as some surmise here- a pre-determined decision to not play him because of the "bad optics" if they do and he gets hurt again

OR

He "got sweaty" doing his allowed aerobic exercise but suffered recurring symptoms and had to back off.  McDaniel saying "no setbacks" would seem to preclude that, but Who Knows.

Well it looks like they are gonna slaughter us.

Especially like how the QB that they rode into the dirt doesn't show up on their graphic.  Classy.

I’m game….what do you call it?

A defensive touchdown or an interception for a touchdown.

I know, very boring. I'm old school.

If I am Miami, I am going heavy set and running the ball down our throats as much as possible. They ran it super effectively last game, and I think that is their only chance. Shorten the game, pound the rock, and maybe hope for a big play on a run or a playaction shot.

So, if I am right, in terms of what we do on D, I think we will be down in the box more with single high, and being much more aggressive.

With their best RB & O-line banged up that might be easier said then done.  And the Bills can take more chances with their run defense knowing that Tua isn't throwing to Hill & Waddle.

The reason they could run is because we were trying to stop those long passes to Hill and Waddle. If Bridgewater plays the Bills have to still do that. Teddy might suck, but he has an arm. If it’s Thompson, they can pack the box to stop the run and short passes. As it stands now, Fraser needs two game plans.

I’ll thank you now. Progresso has the best soups, especially the minestrone.

My wife makes a good middle eastern lentil soup with a name I could not begin to spell.  🤷‍♂️

It’s all about the pasta+ pecorino Romano cheese combo.  The lentils are a nice accompaniment

It’s an ongoing joke

Can anyone explain the Cam Lewis Forearm reporting?! It’s been like 8 straight weeks “Cam Lewis Forearm Full practice” he’s been a full participant every day for weeks.

I haven’t listened yet to the cover 1 episode on this, but from their tweets, it seems like Miami week 15 run success was more than the bills just playing off. Dolphins were doing things schematically where they were winning in the run game.  Just hope we have figured that out this time around.
