TheBrownBear Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 The more I think about it, the more I believe that the NFL got this absolutely right. They were right to cancel the game and this seeding solution is about as equitable as it gets given the circumstances. 2 Quote

If the Chiefs win and the Bills win, the Bills get the 2, get 2 playoff games at home (assuming they can win both) and then avoid a trip to KC (again, assuming KC also gets that far). I think that is about the best we can hope for as of Monday night with all that has happened. Agree completely with what you said. To me this is fair for all. But I know Bengals fans won't be happy if they visit us in round 2. They will contend that they could have beaten us Monday night. Which most likely would've put said PO game in Cincinnati. Not Buffalo. In the end, the Bengals get the least benefit of all this. But they had 4 losses at the time of the incident. Us and KC had 3. Had all three teams had 3 losses at the time, this would be an even bigger mess. It's possible the NFL comes up with another crazy idea too. Quote

HopelessNJBuffaloFan Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 If Bills Win, KC loses, all games come through Buffalo. If Cin wins they are #2 and no neutral sites and also does not mess with Bal. Quote

Based on the resolution the neutral site seemed to only come into play if both KC/Buff win or both lose. So if Cincinnati wins and us and KC lose, Cincinnati can't get the top two seeds. Is this correct? Quote

Doesn't seem fair otherwise. no under the current proposal Bills/Cincy divisional game would be in Buffalo as long as the Bills handle the Pats making the Bills the 2. All Cincy needed to do before the injury to lock up the 2 (forcing Bills to the 3) was maintain the lead at home v Bills and handle the Lamar-less ravens. Quote

Billsfanatic8989 Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 There has yet to be an official word from NFL. Rumor has it that the Bengals aren't happy with these scenarios and are trying to find another alternative Quote

We'll never know what MIGHT have happened, but essentially, instead of playing the game, which mathematically, probably was a 55% chance the Bills would lose at the time the game stopped, KC now has a 100% go for the 1 seed by simply winning Saturday. You take that every time. Essentially, KC gets a "win" in the WC round, and can't play BOTH of the Bills and Bengals, It can only be one or the other at worst, and still possible they play neither one, or if they play Cincy, still host if the Chiefs make it that far of course. It's a good deal for KC.....the cost being simply having to play the Bills at a nuetral site ONLY if both KC and the Bills win this weekend. 1 Quote
Thrivefourfive Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 Why not just wait until things shake out Sunday night. The Chiefs and Bengals are far from a lock to win this week (Bills are of course 😚) Quote

It says if the Bills qualify for the Championship as a road team which would be the case if the Chiefs win or we lose. This would be at a neutral site If KC loses and we win; then we would be the home team (clear #1 seed) and host the game. 1 Quote
Charles Romes Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 KC was gifted the world, Bills given a lower ceiling but also a higher floor, and Cincy has been screwed. 3 Quote

BillyBilliams Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 I don't agree with the Coin flip with Cincy/Balt. Not because it screws Cincy, but it screws Baltimore. They would have beaten Cincy twice. So they'd have to beat Cincy AND win the Coin flip? Sounds kind of garbage. Quote

Billsfanatic8989 Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 Well...there it is. I presume the top three AFC teams win this weekend. My fear is potentially getting Miami instead of NE on WC Weekend. I'd rather get NE. Assuming we take care of NE Sunday. KC will likely get a tomato can opponent on divisional weekend. Probably Jax or Chargers. Safe bet that they are back in the title game. Our biggest benefit is getting KC in a neutral field over Arrowhead. But we still need to beat Miami & Cincinnati (Likely) to get to KC. Not easy at all. https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-owners-approve-resolution-to-adjust-afc-postseason-including-potential-neutr 1 Quote
