WIDE LEFT Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 Not completely serious here but this does provide an interesting scenario. Assume the NFL is just going to cancel Bills/Bengals game. Assume KC beats Raiders on Saturday. This would make Bills v Pats meaningless. If Bills lose, they still get 2nd seed; they would still have the same 8-3 conference record as Bengals, but we win the second tie breaker, record against common opponents (Bills 8-3, Bengals 7-3). So a loss to Pats is meaningless - rest starters? This would guarantee a 1st round playoff matchup against Pats. I have no problem with that. 1 1 1 1 1 1 Quote
TheBrownBear Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 I said the same in the Pats pregame thread. Bills should absolutely rest their starters on Sunday if KC wins. They have zero incentive to go all out and risk injuries to their most key players. Quote
RiotAct Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 given the news about Hamlin today and what he asked doctors when he came to, I’d say there’s about a 0% chance of this happening, even if KC loses. 5 1 7 1 2 Quote
TH3 Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 Wut? if Bills win…either 1-2 seed Lose 3 seed 2 Quote
ImpactCorey Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 This is incorrect. Bengals would also be 8-3 against common opponents with a victory over Baltimore. That would move tie break to strength of victory which goes to Cincinatti. 8 2 Quote
TheyCallMeAndy Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 I think for emotion and momentum purposes they need to go all speed ahead. If the team rallies around 3, this could be a launching point of a historic run. 3 1 Quote
GolfandBills Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 No this is stupid. If they have to win to get 1 or 2 seed you play to win 1 Quote
DCbillsfan Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 Hopefully NFL will clear everything up before Saturday's games. If it's meaningless for the Bills, I agree rest some of their starters on Sunday. 2 Quote
K D Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 If Bills lose and Cinci wins then Bills would be 3 seed 2 2 Quote
Gugny Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 I think the Bills will go up by 5 scores, THEN rest people. F*ck the Patriots. McDermott isn't handing Belichick a win under any circumstance. F*ck them. 7 3 2 2 Quote
K D Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 The better solution is...Dolphins lose (very likely with 3rd string QB) and Pittsburgh wins and then we play the Steelers which is equivalent to a bye Quote
BillyBilliams Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 No. Cincy can win the 2 seed based off the 5th tiebreaker. Buffalo needs to play the game to avoid dropping to a potential 3 spot. Also, Damar's father said he wouldn't want that. So go play for Damar. 2 Quote

If the Chiefs win (14-3) and the Bills lose (12-4), then Monday's game wouldn't matter - we'd still finish below them in the placings even if the game had been played and we had beaten the Bengals. Which would possibly mean a trip to Arrowhead? Obviously, if the Bengals win and we lose they'd jump us to second seed (12-4) though the home field advantage could be waived in that scenario. Quote
BillsFanSD Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 If the game is actually meaningless, then yeah sure rest as many starters as you can. Allen doesn't need to be playing a game just for practice. This would be SOP for any team in that situation. Quote
Success Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 I've got a better idea - let's beat them by at least 4 touchdowns. 2 2 1 Quote
rayray808 Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 If we lose, and the Bengals win we are the 3 seed and would host the Ravens 1 Quote
Steptide Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 Even if they have nothing to play for Sunday (seed wise) i think it's Abad idea to rest starters. This team barely played Monday night and to rest everybody this coming Sunday would make for an awful long time between games. I think if anything this team needs to play Sunday to prepare for the playoffs 1 Quote

I must be growing soft, but Pats fans lately have been really supportive of the Bills (and I'm not even talking about the Damar situation). Even discussing Lamar, I saw a lot of Pats fans responding on Twitter that they'd love to see Bills win a SB just to see Hamlin holding a Lombardi Trophy. Got me right in the feels! Coupled with hearing so many of them praise Josh & say they wish he was their QB, I definitely don't hate them as much as I used to 😆 1 Quote
