No thanks, I don't trust things that are supposed to "stick" and costs $3k

I would need a lifetime warranty for full replacement if it ever decided to stop "sticking"

I wouldn't trust it's "battery power".  That thing will suck juice like crazy and the idea of NOT having it hardwired into the electrical system in the house is stupid.

It's not THAT big a deal to hide a power cable inside the drywall.

The Roku app on my phone can control any Roku, as long as you are both on the same wifi network.  I've used it to play tricks on some relatives when they're trying to watch something on TV.

My Roku remote vanished (this still pisses me off after years) and I relied on the Roku app remote on my phone.  I always thought it was a pain in the ass, but stuck with it for quite a while.  Finally, I ponied up the $8 and got a new remote.

My first big screen was in the early 90’s. It was a 60” Mitsubishi rear projection TV. It was about 3’ deep and we had a giant oak entertainment center built to go around it.

Our most recent TV is a 77’ LG OLED 4k with an amazing picture. It is mounted above a fireplace and it’s about as thick as a single credit card. Seriously. The change has been absolutely amazing.

LG?

@Einstein has one that can project a picture the size of his house.

I do!

And even upgraded this year. Check out this beast. It’s meant for stadiums and commercial movie theaters and can project up to a 1,115” screen. I had to run a new 220v line.

This I have this 58 inch TV sitting on this wall in front of me I had people come in and pacifically install a wall mount that swivels where this TV isn’t coming off even in an earthquake way too much money to be thinking about how it’s gonna fall on the ground and break all the time

IMO a good projector is still the easiest & best way to go… love watching Bills games at home on a 133” screen.

We bought a house up the road about a year ago. The basement has a 100” projection TV. We asked if it worked and they said absolutely, but we never saw it on until after closing. It works great now, after we replaced the receiver. And the projector. And the front speakers. And the subwoofer. And the cable and satellite boxes. But that screen and those two side/rear speakers worked just dandy!  😋

I don’t mind a bit, because it makes me feel less guilty about what we paid for the house. They never listed it for sale, and their Realtor friend (who I used to work with) let it slip they just wanted to get what they paid for it 4-5 years ago. A lot has changed since then, and we got a steal. I can afford to fix a few things after paying a fraction of what the house is worth.

Have you priced a replacement lamp?  guessing 2-3000 hours life?

We had a dinner party once when we had the projector.  Last two couples fell asleep watching a movie.  i woke to a phone call from the last couple to leave saying a soft porn showtime film was clearly visible down on the street.

Thankfully I received 3 lamps from the company I purchased the projector from. The lamp inside it now has about 500 hours on it, so about 1500 hours left and I have the two extra lamps with 0 hours on them. I should be set on lamps for a long time.

That’s a lot of money. You could get a high end OLED TV (or mini LED or QD-OLED) that you know will have an amazing picture for the same type of money.

What type of screen is it using? Is it just a cheap LED? Or is it OLED, mini led?

Id also be skeptical of it running off a battery. I feel like that’s going to negatively impact peak brightness levels of the TV. I don’t see how the battery will have enough juice for a good HDR experience. But maybe it will?

I miss the days where multiple cable boxes in the house all used the same exact remote.  There were so many pranks.  I feel like we were also able to change our neighbor's tv through the window, but I may be making that one up.
