One moment talking to teammates and the next, on the ground. Aortic rupture/dissection is likely - something caused blood from reaching the brain quickly. V fib from a hit to chest wouldn’t have been delayed. My wife had a VAD. They are variable. If it was a complete tear of one of the arteries, the other would have still fed the cerebellum. Hers was a partial tear and clot, and she likely ran a triathlon that way. She collapsed after, but got up. Had a stroke in the hospital. this seems different than that, but what do I know. Scary, terrible, and I shouldn’t be speculating. 3 Quote

The question with Kevin Everett was, would he walk again The question with Damar Hamlin is will he live, will he breathe on his own again Kevin Everett's injury was also potentially life threatening but it does feel like this is worse in a way. Having said that the Everett situation was truly sickening as he was facing quadriplegia potentially and honestly the life expectancy for total paralysis is not great. 1 Quote
ndirish1978 Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Last time I saw an ambulance on the field was Kevin Everett, this is absolutely terrible. Just been praying for him for the last hour, simply awful. Quote
babulator Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Statement from the NFL: NFL STATEMENT ON BILLS-BENGALS GAME Tonight’s Buffalo Bills-Cincinnati Bengals game has been postponed after Buffalo Bills’ Damar Hamlin collapsed, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced. Hamlin received immediate medical attention on the field by team and independent medical staff and local paramedics. He was then transported to a local hospital where he is in critical condition. Our thoughts are with Damar and the Buffalo Bills. We will provide more information as it becomes available. The NFL has been in constant communication with the NFL Players Association which is in agreement with postponing the game. Quote
jethro_tull Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 espn report from hospital no new info.... Quote
The Wiz Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 (edited) So Joe Buck just said they were "pounding" on his chest for CPR and Aikman was wondering when this game would be able to be played. Nice work NFL on Fox. Edited January 3, 2023 by The Wiz Quote
Brand J Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 The Butterfly Effect, I think about it after catastrophic situations. How one single scenario in the day would’ve led to a different outcome. If that stupid college game hadn’t delayed kickoff 15 mins. If Josh and Beasley connected on that pass the same play to Higgins wouldn’t have happened at that exact moment. Man. Prayers to Hamlin, his family, and to the rest of the Bills breathern. 2 2 Quote

YoloinOhio Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 (edited) Dang. I’m just thinking about all of us die hard fans on this board. This team, OUR team, we get to know them, kind of. Like real people, not just football players. We get disappointed when it doesn’t go our way on the field but we are always here, they are OUR guys. Seeing Josh, diggs, Tre with tears streaming down their face. The human emotion behind the jersey. It’s surreal. I feel helpless but I feel this fan base does great things and we will get Damar through this! Edited January 3, 2023 by YoloinOhio 16 4 Quote
Danger Mouse Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Feel bad for Tee Higgins tonight too. Must be weighing heavier on him than most. 3 4 1 Quote

ToGoGo Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 6 minutes ago, Dick_Cheney said: It seems like the most simple path, and it is. But it’s wrong on many, many levels for the Bills to be punished because it happened to their player, and it’s just as wrong for the guilt trip decision to be offered to Buffalo of “Do you want to forfeit?” For whatever integrity this league and this game still might have, they have to figure out the logistics of this somehow. What they do in response to this will genuinely impact the future of the league. I don't think it's even an option for the NFL. Quote
