Poyer probably could've earned more on the open market rather than sign an extension with the Bills in 2020, but it's not like we're ripping the guy off. He's the #1 SS in the league this season by both cap hit and base salary.

If we are looking at money, "base salary" is meaningless.  Po is on his last year of his contract extension.

It's high because most of the guaranteed money was already paid up in cap.

As to cap hit, $2.6M is pushed from last year when he restructured to free up cap space.

In Poyer's 6 years playing for the Bills his cost averages to $5.8M per year.  Bills got a pretty good deal for their money!

He was also a backup with the browns so the money seemed great at the time.

I think we should pay him just not trying to blame the bills for believing in him

and giving a chance and paying him twice

I want to see him back next year.  It will unfortunately depend on the length and AAV.

I think he compromises a bit to stay.

I'd love to berate you for being heartless, but this is exactly how winning teams operate.

Never pay for depreciating assets.

Got to put the feelings aside and do the right thing financially for the teams future. We took a massive risk with Von Miller can’t do another one.

IF the expectation is that the knee and elbow will recover 100% in the off season, you absolutely re-sign Poyer to 2 years guaranteed with whatever voidable years are needed to do the contract. Hyde and Poyer will be able to be effective for at least 2 more years. It's not like a cover corner who is toast when they lose a step. Get-er-done!

Have they gotten around to removing Poyers spleen yet…,

Yes, but he woke up and turfed the surgeon, took back the spleen, taped it back in there and left for practice before anybody could stop him.

Why would you pay for an often injured player?? This will probably be his last year as a Buffalo Bill.

Depends on his salary demands if they can agree to a figure the team and poyer's wife can live with he comes back.  If not he signs with another team and for his efforts as a Bill I'd be happy if he manages to play well thru another contract.   I'd welcome him back at a price that the team can work with.  But if he wants more than they feel they can pay then he walks.  Certainly hope he gets a ring with the Bills this year as he's earned it.

Hope it is a minor tear. Should heal with a bit of rest if Buffalo gets the bye.

If he's playing, I feel like it has to be.

I tore my meniscus once (and I hate it when people do this, because there are a few dozen degrees of any injury).  But I didn't need surgery, and I still couldn't even walk on it for weeks.

If Poyer is healthy enough to keep up w/ some of the best receivers in the league, I doubt it's that bad.  But huge credit to him - I'm sure it's still playing through pain.
