oh, and being the only undefeated team in the nfl at 5-0 by going to to San Diego and beating their 4-0 a**es!

Unfortunately, we lost to them in the playoffs, on the road! That year was like 1993. We beat Dallas in the regular season, only to lose to them in the SB.

[FYI: under today's rules, we would have played Cleveland in the 1980 divisionals, not San Diego.]

1993 season

Dolphins @ Cowboys (SBC)

Thanks for doing all this research!

The Dolphins in 1993 got super lucky beating the Cowboys, thanks to Leon Lett.

So in 1980 was the last time the Bills played both conference and super bowl champs and also won.

That 1980 Bills team was a legit Super Bowl contender.  The 20-14 loss to the Chargers in the divisional round was tough because I believe Bills would have advanced to the SB if they just could have gotten past this game.

How bout beating both Super Bowl teams on the road and the last 3 MVPs in 1 season(Mahomes, Lamar, Rodgers back to back).😜

-AND the Conference’s 2 runner ups from last season! This could be realized Monday night!

Legit rub, 2 wrs, excellent and youthful d, and veteran qb.  As I said earlier fergie’s broken ankle did them in.

What is worse?

given the raiders upset of Cleveland the afc championship game, had the bills beat SD, would have been in Buffalo.

With the big ups and downs from year to year among NFL teams, this isn't necessarily as big an accomplishment as it may seem at first blush.

We were so proud of that Week 1 pounding of the Rams despite giving the ball away 4 times and having LOTS of thing to clean up...and yet the Rams have proven THIS YEAR to be a lousy team.

Yea... but that is because they lost their left tackle week 1, their right guard and starting safety in week 4, their left guard in week 5, their Quarterback and their #1 receiver from week 10, their nose tackle from week 12, their #2 receiver from week 13.... and then eventually their best defensive player too.

I'm not saying the Rams would have been repeat Champions or anything but they are lousy because half their starters went down for the year. They had basically everyone except their #3 receiver when the Bills beat them week 1. That was still a very good win.

Yeah, it was an amazing season. It was what drew me to the Bills as a child. The thing that drives me crazy is we had that game won, despite the broken ankle. But Ron Smith scored a dramatic 50-yard TD in the last minute or so to let the Chargers win the game 20-14.
