Sorry if posted before…phin heaven.

I don’t take any glee this time around and I am sorry for this kid, quite a bit. I joke about them losing and suffering, not about a player getting hurt.  You knew something was off watching that fourth quarter.

additionally, keeping a closer eye on on the kid MEANS KEEPING A CLOSER EYE ON THE KID.  Regardless of what he “reports” you mean no one, even a coffee getting intern, is watching every play in which he goes to the ground?!

idiots.

I want him to retire. It's not worth the gamble every week.

He is a super guy and would be petfect on ESPN.

Tua should call it a career. He seems like a really nice guy. He has his whole life ahead of him and it isn’t worth it. I feel the same way about Mitch Morse at this point.

no... Morse never had 3 in one year... but its getting close.. one more..

Apparently tua had 3 concussions this year according to those fins fans.

I only recall two and a back injury.  At least that's what they were saying back in September.

But he really might need to call it a career.  I already have a feeling that Morse is going to retire at the end of the season and he's on his seventh? Concussion.

Guy has nothing to prove and made enough to support himself for the rest of his life.  Needs to think about his health (and the fact that he went to a doctor instead of his coaching staff shows he might think they don't care about his health).

He’s had 6 now I think. He has made $50M and has 2 little kids. Morse has had a fantastic year but you can’t fault him if he hangs them up.

If you're going to play QB at Tua's size you need to be faster and more evasive than he is.  It would make sense to step away for his own good.

I don't even think it's a size thing.  He literally hits his head every time he falls backwards.

He did it again is and he turned his body while falling against GB and took most of the force to the back of his head.

There have been plenty of players smaller than him that taken some hard his to the head also.  He could just be susceptible to them.

Had he not had a concussion this year, I would assume he would be back.  Now I think he's probably going to call it at the end of the season.

I’m a doc so take this for what it’s worth

Here’s what concerns me most - Tua is getting concussed with progressively weaker shots to the head.

The first “back injury” was a significant whack where get got up with legs of spaghetti. The entire viewing audience knew he was concussed but no one did a thing.

Days later, he falls backward and takes a mild-moderate head bounce of the turf. This nearly turned him into a vegetable on the field. OH NOW WE’VE GOT A PROBLEM!

This hit was relatively minor. It wasn’t a hard tackle, his ass and back hit first then the back of his head hit the turf. We see this type of tackle all the time. Because of his previous concussions, even a minor hit like that caused symptoms. I don’t believe for a second Tua didn’t know his egg was scrambled again.

That’s three concussions in a matter of months, unless you are a FinHeaven idiot and want to call it 2. Doesn’t matter either way.

Soon, Tua is going to get concussed without his head hitting the turf. Normal tackles are going to scramble his brain and THAT is the risk.

He needs to be shut down for the rest of the year, given the off season to heal and re-evaluate his life, and then decide if he wasn’t to continue playing.

He definitely should be out for the rest of the season. Too many concussions over a short period of time. He probably should retire as it's not worth risking your health both in the short and long term.

Early in the game he gets hit and his head hits the ground.  Several fans posted they thought he should have been tested, but the Dolphins did nothing.

Then he screws up their season and wham here you are.

Maybe here:

I thought the same thing as I watched this play. Now I get paranoid whenever I see Josh (or any Bill) hit the turf this way, ever since Tua's first concussion against us. But this kind of concussion just proves that Tua's internal brain "wiring" makes him more susceptible to these concussions. Other players dont get them this way but get them in the helmet to helmet collision style. Some not all. TBH I feel sorry for the guy, his long term health maybe in the balance right now.

Hasn't Morse said one more won’t change my mind, nor will another after that or the next after that?

Hes consulted with neurologists and, for whatever reason, concussions don’t worry him long term.

Also, I’ve heard somewhere that there’s a thought it isn’t severe concussions that mess people up, it’s the repeated minor head injuries.

Im not saying Morse is right or wrong, just that we all seem to think he should hang ‘em up after the season, but everything he’s ever said indicates he’s unbothered by concussions.

Maybe he won’t hang them up. This is such a “Bills-centric” lens to look through though. If he played for the Carolina Panthers, made $50M, and had 2 kids under 6 (or whatever) we would certainly think retirement was the bet option. He can do whatever he wants this off-season and NO ONE should fault or judge him for whatever he decides. 6 documented concussions means there are who knows how many others.

I have a close friend that was a LB for 7 seasons (primarily for the Pats in the mid-2000’s-2010’s) and had maybe 2 documented. He’s POSITIVE that he had at least 14 others. He was primarily a ST guy/backup LB. He was like a Dodson or Matakevich type. He never wanted to vocalize them for fear of losing his job. This held especially true after he became a 7-figure vet. They easily could have drafted a cheaper, late round guy, to replace him.

They gambled with Tua, trying to make this year their year, and were still trying this weekend.  Which is crazy.  They are not winning the SB this year, and they might have just cost themselves what was actually starting to look like a franchise QB this year.  Hell, I remember Trent Edwards and how he looked before and after the Cards game.  And that was just a single concussion.

Not sure it’s the head coach’s job to be doctor in the middle of the game?? First, he's not qualified, 2nd he has plenty of other things on his plate. So unless the team’s doctors told him about it and he ignored it, I don’t see how he is to blame.

somebody is to blame certainly, but not the head coach

Agreed. I don't think it's unreasonable to think that Tua did this on his own. Hit his head, felt like he could continue. I know everyone here hates the dolphins but I doubt that anyone knew of his issues during the game. I couldn't tell anything from watching on TV.

I think a lot of people noticed the head hit, but they cut away from it really fast as the play was going on down the field.

It’s also a play that happens all the time. People just noticed it because it’s Tua.

I hate it for him, but if you can get concussed that easily .. you either need someone to coach you on how to protect yourself, or maybe you’re just unable to given physical stature.

I know guys like Brees had long careers, but Tua and (for other reasons) Kyler seem injured all the time.

At this point, probably. Tua has had 3 in one year though, and one was quite horrific

Biggest urban legend on this board.

Truth: Trent Edwards sucked badly before during and after the hit in Arizona, which was a legitimately hard hit..  He was horrible from day one but his best statistical game came after that hit.  There is a good chance he was drafted only because Bill Walsh promoted him to then GM Marv Levy and this was done as a practical joke between two old friends.
