Im actually blown away that they didn’t have the team park under cover (somewhere, anywhere), having a good idea that the weather was going to be insane. Pick ‘em up in a covered lot or garage and bus right to plane. Perhaps overreaction, and bigger issues in the world though… I think the answer to that is no one expected the storm to be quite as fierce as it was at the airport. In hindsight, it would have been a good idea, but the airport actually usually doesn't get that much snow! There is a single covered lot at the airport https://parking.buffaloairport.com/parking-information-reserved-covered-parking/ It has a shuttle, but worth noting that the shuttle goes to the main airport terminal, so a different ride service would have had to be provided. Also worth noting that with the airport officially closed, no guarantee that the exit to that garage would have been open and navigable when it was time for the Bills to leave. So now you don't have to shovel out cars, but you do have to find someone who can get there to unlock and raise the exit gate and to plow out the exit ramp and the road from the garage to the main drag. I'm sure in hindsight, it would have made sense to ask the players to park at the stadium where the Bills own crack grounds crew and snow removal equipment could have cleaned them out, then bus them to the airport. But hindsight is always 20/20. With all the scurrying to communicate and get the players to the airport to head out a day early, as well as change hotel reservations and get all the equipment to Detroit and home - it's not a surprise optimal parking strategy for players wasn't high on the list. And again - the airport usually doesn't get that much snow, the fiercest snow is usually the snow belt, Orchard Park, Angola etc. 19 hours ago, Process said: I think it's safe to say all of our UFAs will not be resigning I mean....this is being compared to the Blizzard of 1977. muppy Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Yeah Im not buying UFA's wont sign in Buffalo due to weather. Add in playoff appearance checks and playing for the Bills to the decision scale. Hey UFA you want a ring homey? If they haven't bought into what the Bills have to offer Professionally I think they need a new agent just sayin' m 1 Quote
0017 Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 I heard Josh and Mitch had to share a hotel room on the way back! But they made it home for Christmas 😃 1 Quote

You can not buy it all day but it's fact. Josh Allen badly wanted Christian Kirk to be his slot receiver this season........went on vacation with him to woo him.........and Kirk was full pfffft to the idea of playing in the cold in Buffalo. And he's turned out to be a much better slot WR than even peak Beasley. Then there are the WAG's..........Kyle Jusczyk had a better deal lined up with Buffalo but his GF burst into tears at the notion and he signed with SF instead. Bills even got seconds on a fullback. Not wanting to play in Buffalo is still going to be a thing for some of the best talent........even if Josh leads the Bills to a SB........and especially for WR's so the Bills are going to have to keep addressing that in the draft or taking the seconds on the market and trying to elevate them. 1 Quote
zow2 Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 The Bills happen to be in a Championship window with Allen and McBeane steering the ship. Culture of winning, etc.. So while they are in this window, free agents will sign barring a few exceptions. If they were a crappy team right now it would be brutal. No one would sign here. Who wants to live near this Lake snow machine in winter if the organization sucked?! Quote
Xwnyer Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Seeing a lot of complaints from folks in WNY about fact Bills were bused from Rochester and allowed to drive Home with travel bans Quote

I could More see a player wanting to go to a state with less taxes than NY vs the weather. But I think you have a point Yes I'm looking at this issue as a born and bred WNY er. Maybe I should put it this way. If you dont want to play for Bufflao we don;t want you right back pal. Edited December 26, 2022 by muppy Quote

It's not as though there are storms like this every year. Quote

Well Western New York is a very large area Orchard Park is an outer ring suburb … The airport is in Cheektowaga in the inner ring As far as Buffalo and inner ring suburbs… I’d say the airport probably gets hit the hardest or parts of west Seneca Quote

It is the height of unfairness for people to be blaming fire/police for not being able to rescue people in conditions that could only be described as impossible. The fact they risked their own lives many times to try should be commended in and of itself. 2 Quote

They are in a snow belt where the winds will take the bands over Lackawanna, miss downtown and the airport, be a bullseye for Depew/Lancaster and head out to Batavia. Whatever the total at the airport is for a given season, you can tack on about 20-30" usually. When we had 7 feet here in 2014, airport had barely a foot. West Seneca has it worse usually than us tho. Edited December 26, 2022 by Big Turk Quote
