Pokebball Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 There are more busts than hits, at every position. Personally, I think a kids humility matters quite a bit. Wilson has always come across to me as a cocky brat, kinda like Rosen did. 4 Quote
sullim4 Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Akili Smith has to be part of the conversation. So does Kijana Carter. 1 Quote

Look at the first three picks in 1999 draft alone: Tim Couch, McNabb, Akili Smith. The Bengals could probably almost have their own monument when you add Smith 3rd overall, David Klinger 6th overall, and Jack Thomson 3rd overall McNabb isn't even close to being a bust... He's a borderline hall of famer. 5 2 Quote
Fleezoid Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 I think the only way Zack Wilson is going to get back on track, it'll have to be with different team as a backup for a while. His head can't be right, right now. A year or two as a backup while he works on his game. And time to let this train wreck fade away. My 2 cents. 3 Quote
Sammy Watkins' Rib Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 His full story hasn’t been written yet, but his trajectory is that he will be. The Jets gave him a pretty darn good roster in his second year and he’s been a total failure. There’s no reason why he shouldn’t have been able to lead this Jets team to the playoffs similar to Turbitzky taking the Bears to the playoffs in his second year. 1 Quote

I'll go back and edit to clarify that! 6 minutes ago, Rigotz said: You're calling Donovan McNabb a bust? 6-time pro bowler, two-time all pro ... came in 2nd for NFL MVP in 2000.... Buftex Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 It is pretty clear from the responses here, we don't have a clear definition of what a "bust" is. Quote
HOUSE Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 (edited) May be the worst team leader I ever saw. The team clearly doesn't believe in him Edited December 23, 2022 by HOUSE 3 Quote
TBBills Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Sucks that wilson gets hit with it, the kid never should have been drafted yet the Jets did in the first. Maybe he will just ***** the mothers of everyone and make a career out of that. Quote
without a drought Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 "Hold on a second, let's not jump to conclusions" Geno Smith has entered the thread. Quote

Being drafted first automatically puts huge expectations on you-not sure why you would draft someone first if you don’t have huge expectations. Plus the whole coaches giving him a blank DVD thing puts him up on that list. My point with Russell was, the Raiders drafted him #1 overall in the NFL draft. He was a huge bust, for the Raiders. But 31 other NFL teams would never have drafted him #1 overall. To me, that is just an indictment of the Raiders ineptitude, rather than Russell's ability. He very well may still have been awful, but a 3rd round QB pick that doesn't amount to anything is more the norm. Quote
HOUSE Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 The guy needs to toughen up and develop some grit. Reminds me of some young kid the first day of boot camp. 1 Quote

Wilson as a number 2 overall might be there with them. https://www.nj.com/sports/2022/12/nfl-analyst-says-jets-zach-wilson-could-be-one-of-biggest-busts-in-nfl-history.html I thought you were referring to Ralph. I read the article, and was confused when I didn't see him mentioned. I don't think Zach Wilson is famous enough yet to refer to him by last name only. Also, way too soon to consider him a bust. Success Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Honestly, it's a pretty tough situation for the Jets. To draft 2 QB's so high in such a short timeframe, and neither works out - pretty bad luck. It's so hard w/ QB's & the draft. It really is hard to figure out who will pan out in the NFL, and who won't. The JA draft is such a great example of that. 1 Quote
