But do our opponents also throw to 9 people and spread the wealth- fact is for multiple weeks all we did was throw to Diggs - dude has 99 receptions after a few weeks of not getting more than 5- had to get other people involved and show more on film and make other teams game plan for more-atleast that's my take

I agree, that’s my take.

I think our own constant focusing and targeting Diggs stalled our offense at times. I’m glad we’re working more guys in.

Diggs will have to figure out a way to manage it.

We won, so I got what I'm wanting!

But Yes on the more diverse passing game.  Not just to RBs (8 targets combined), but to Knox (8 targets) and Morris, to the slots (6 targets) - spreading the ball around.  I thought it opened things up for Davis (6 targets) and for Diggs (9 targets).  We overall moved the ball better, and in the end, Everybody Ate.

Josh threw to 9 different guys.

I would have liked to see more running game from backs not named Josh Allen, but after we were playing with 2 backup OLmen all bets were off.

You?

That's what we needed to see and that's what many have expected. Where had that been?

Diggs didn't get a ton of yards and I hope he's not upset but he is an extremely valuable piece in the field. If I get a chance I'll make a thread asking to rank in value out offensive weapons.

But I'm extremely satisfied knowing we have this capability and think if we can establish a running game to control the clock we are unstoppable with the ball.

No.  I don't know why he was asking them to leave.  Seems like an unusual thing for him to do.

Because the Dolphins fans near NFL TV Set were throwing snowballs at the set.  Watch the video of his interview - one landed on the desk and hit Colleen.  Josh was pointing out folks to security

Worth noting that most of Mostert’s 1st half yardage came on one 67 yd run.  Other than that 10 for 43 in the first half.

Weren't you a little jealous of how they used the run to manage the clock, balance the offense, effectively set up Tua and achieve so much with so little?

McDaniel is a punky little dork but he calls some good series. Just not overall.

Diggs had 5 receptions on 9 targets,  low for him.  I can clearly recall one ball that was on target and he could have caught.  6 receptions would put him close to his usual catch %.  II don’t know what happened on that long ball where he was open - did Josh throw too long, was the ball caught up in the wind, or did Diggs get held?  Diggs had at least one chance he controlled to increase his yards and of course if he’d hauled in that deep shot, he’d have had plenty of yards.

I agree, I would have liked to see more running game last night.  They came up with run plays that worked against Cleveland, so I think they can do it when they want to.

I’ll repeat what I said a few weeks ago after the Jets and Vikes games: “Only Josh Allen can beat the Bills”

I was curious...

In the 2 Miami games here's the total Offensive stats.

1st Downs - Buffalo 60, Miami 35

Total plays - Buffalo 161, Miami 96

Total Yards - Buffalo 943, Miami 617

Passing Yards - Buffalo 678, Miami 388

Rushing Yards - Buffalo 265, Miami 229

Total Final Score - Buffalo 51, Miami 50!!!

McDaniel is a punky little dork who just may be able to coach.  And it pains me to say that.

They definitely came into Highmark figuring that the Bills wouldn’t be too worried about the run, so run they could and would.  I dunno about “jealous” but I was wondering who wasn’t setting the edge or minding their gap to let them run all over the place.

While I was watching the game I felt like they were running and passing all over us and converting 3rd downs at an epic pace, but when I looked at the end of game stats it wasn’t as bad as it seemed - 5 of 14 on 3rd down or about 1/3, Tua 17 of 30 passing.

McDaniel is a mediocre/bad coach imo.  I don’t get where the hype is coming from.  They get talked about like they have an average roster and he is getting a lot out of his players but their team is absolutely stacked and very much in win now mode with the tyreek trade. They also added two great offensive linemen (when healthy) armstead and Connor Williams and win percentage wise they’re hovering at about previous dolphins team levels

Lots of head scratching playcalls on his part specifically in short yardage situations.  He’s got that defense that’s good on paper playing quite poorly too.  I don’t think he’s any better than Flores overall but his team is certainly more fun to watch because of tyreek/waddle.

Basham got toasted last night but I didn't pay close enough attention but have a feeling it was by scheme failure than player failure. A better player may have overcome the poor scheming to have him out of space.

I also thought the interior DL could have done more. Tua had time.

I couldn’t tell who we were playing inside, but Oliver is playing with 1 arm and a linebacker brace and Jordan Phillips, damn his “prey drive”, wasn’t playing.

So that’s our 2 3TDT.   Brandin Bryant and Ed Oliver with 1 arm is a big downgrade from healthy Oliver and Phillips.

I wouldn’t bet rent money on Basham being in the right place as designated by scheme.

He’s a way better coach the Flores. He actually builds his offense around players. He doesn’t force his players to fit a mold. Hes gonna be a good coach for a while

If you only care about offense maybe…that defense on paper is better than Flores’ squad  and they have taken a huge step backwards.  Does that not reflect on McDaniel because he is an offensive minded head coach?

even their offense isn’t really elite despite having tons of talent…they are racking up tons of yards but the ppg just isn’t there to support that defense.

The reality is that the team is 11-3 and we need to look at the overall picture.  There are a number of areas that need improvement, but overall, the team has strengths and a top QB with a shot for home field advantage for the AFC playoffs.  For sure, there are things to be critical about, but the team currently is in a good place.  All of the top teams in the NFL have deficiencies at this point in the season.  The free agents acquired for the o-line were low budget types, and they are playing at that level.  I think the team expected more from Gabe and Crowder this season, and that has not happened.  Agree that the our RB situation is curious at best, but Beane clearly was interested in McCaffrey, and Singletary will be a free agent after this season, so I expect Cook will be the guy going forward, for good or for bad.  I think we all wanted more from our draft picks in 2022, but we do need to give them time before making judgements about their long term prospects with the Bills.

I do feel confident that Beane and the coaching staff know where we need to improve going forward and I trust that they will continue to make moves to make that happen.

This is just a heavy dose of quibbling.  Going 11-3 and winning the division is nice...the standard for 2022 has always been to get the #1 seed heading into the playoffs.  Just saying we're in a good place now while putting the head in the proverbial sand isn't a view I share because...

The idea last off-season was to improve the running game to alleviate the reliance on Josh.  But it's now clear these last 4 games they need Josh running to keep the offense going.  That was on display against a lower ranked MIA defense.

Josh is running the ball almost 10 times each of these past 4 games.  That's on McBeane....they are responsible for not giving him the protection and skill players to allow him to win from the pocket.

I don't understand how you can make the first observation and then make the 2nd, 3rd, perhaps 4th, 5th, and 6th.

Last off-season on offense McBeane were all about reducing Josh's carries and here we are back to needing him to run to manufacture offense again.

They whiffed on the UFA OL signings and they're still not strong running the ball.  Cook may catch passes, but you want more from a 2nd round RB.  Sum is that the running game is still not good and they lack the 3rd receiver.  Perhaps they're trying to make up for it with better pass-catching RBs but they've also spent a lot getting those guys.

They are 11-3, but seeing them scrape by against Miami at home is a harbinger of things to come in the playoffs.  Miami is no pushover, but Buffalo is likely to face better (KC, CIN) in the playoffs at some point

Seeing the Chiefs scrap by against a 1 win Texans team...is that a harbinger of things to come in the playoffs?
