Did the storm affect you? My God was that thing evil. I think of the people killed or stranded on top of their flooded property and think, why didn't they leave? But I guess I'd probably be the same way, not wanting to leave the property to fate and hoping to save it.

luckily I'm not in a flood zone, I didn't have any trees or big limbs fall.  so we fared well, thanks for asking.

I’m not sure what the answer is for rising insurance costs, but it’s not a simple fix.

States can play hardball with insurance companies, and then the insurers lose money and threaten to leave and/or have moratoriums on lines of business.

States can allow smaller insurance companies to come in and undercut more established insurers.. until a Hurricane Helene rolls through and bankrupts them leaving customers stuck.

No good answers.

You called Miami Beach a swamp, you just funny.

How y’all doing down in the swamp. Isn’t that what they call UF?  Helene was a massive B word. Loads of friends without power still. The waterfalls would be magnificent if anyone could make it to see them. My dogs got skunked tonight. Still all good.

I am in Orlando, and I personally had nothing beyond some small tree limbs in my yard. A few near us had larger branches hit car or house but Thursday was pretty normal.
