What sort of punishment should he get for "crossing the line"?    This world has become so thin skinned.

I wonder how many posters in this thread actually care about what he said against women, and how many just hate Jerry Sullivan for daring to criticize their beloved Bills when they were a league embarrassment, and figure this is their best shot to get rid of him for once and for all.

90% of the posts on this board are pure hate inspired, one way or the other.

Lots of posters spend ALL their time attacking other posters!  They don't even comment on the damned team or game of football.

Some of the posters who called for Sullivan to be fired have themselves posted worse jokes in this very thread and gotten no flak for it at all.  So yeah, I think it's safe to assume that this is really just a lifetime achievement award and all the "outrage" over his podcast is just cover for that.

So many people cite things that they've never actually read, like the Constitution, the Bible, The Wealth of Nations, etc.

I haven’t read the post above, but I know it’s full of crap.

I haven't posted on this thread till now.  I don't hate Jerry.  But a long time ago, I decided to stop reading him.  He never had inside information.  He never provided deep analysis.  He simply whined.  Of course, there was a lot to complain about during the drought.  Some of his criticisms were accurate.  But even when the Bills beat a more talented team, he'd find something to complain about.  He could find a dark cloud even on the sunniest of days.  I didn't find his writing to be either educational or enjoyable.  So I didn't bother with him.

As for what he said about women, it was clearly misogynistic and an offense to many good female Bills fans who deserve better.

Sullivan isn't poster, he's a paid journalist, who holds himself in high regard.  And people don't hate Sullivan because he says mean things about the Bills.  They dislike him because he is lazy and sloppy in his work.

Take that question to Allen about not looking like a Super Bowl offense after the Jets game.  The question ignores the obvious fact that the Super Bowl is two months away.  It ignores that the Jets probably have the best defense the Bills will face this season.  It ignores history, where the Bills offense struggled in December last season against Carolina and Atlanta, but still lit it up in the playoffs.  It wasn't a well researched question.  It was a trolling question meant to rub Allen's face in expectations when he didn't perform as well as Sullivan (who knew nothing about the Bills gameplan) thought he should have performed.  It was a question wrapped in an insult, and Allen expertly and deftly answered to avoid being caught up in Sullivan's energy-vampire shtick.

Turn to Sullivan appearing on that low-rent podcast.  Sullivan is asked a question that he considers insulting.  Unlike Allen, who refused to take the bait when asked an insulting question, Sullivan (the media professional) jumps in whole hog.

The question was posed by a person named Amy.  Does Sullivan dismiss the question by saying, sorry you feel that way Amy?  No.  Does he try to give insight to his journalistic methods? No.  Does he treat Amy as an individual? No.

In response to a question/comment criticizing him, Sullivan attacks ALL WOMEN.  He doesn't justify his critical journalism  methods (you know, why it's important to ask athletes if they believe they embarassed themselves), he instead identifies the problem is with women.

So to answer your question why people hate Jerry, Jerry would answer that the reason is women be cheerleaders who don't understand journalism.  But the truth is people dislike Sullivan because he is sloppy and lazy and tries to shock rather than inform.  And this recent incident indicates that he is misogynistic, arrogant, hypocritical, and lacks self awareness.  These are are traits that hurt his claim of being a serious, critical sports journalist.

Cut him some slack, people. He's probably salty about his daughter's very visible work out in Vegas. Seems like the uptight type who might let this kind of thing gnaw away at him, and then take it out on a family pet, or Josh Allen.

Dear Santa,

I've been a good boy and loyal Bills fan all my life.

Can you put her in my stocking (or she can bring her own) for Christmas?

For all intents and purposes, Sully became irrelevant the day the Drought ended. He fought the good fight for all those years, but with Ralph and all of his Stooges gone, he no longer mattered.

I wish he never would’ve apologized though, that was a sign of weakness. He’d been better off quoting Mick Jagger after Jesse Jackson was offended with the title track of the Some Girls album: “If you can’t take a joke, it’s just too f###### bad.”

There are people today spouting far worse stuff than Stern (or Sullivan, for that matter) ever said and they're still on the air. Why? They have an audience, and that attracts advertisers. When people decide they don't want to listen to it anymore, they stop, the advertising dollars go away, and the show is canceled. Such is the way of commercial media, and has been ever since its inception.

When a show is canceled, it's a business decision. Always has been.

For starters Sullivan was jokin' around on a podcast, lets not be so sensitive and look to be offended at everything

He was the only guy left in the local media that was any good. The rest of them are just straight ass-kissers and if we're being honest, completely unqualified...

Sal Capaccio is a great example. Huge kiss ass and his background is in like teaching kindergarten or something, he's not a journalist. Guys like him should be the ones getting fired

ok, Jerry.

Sure, generalizing an entire gender as incapable of critical thinking when it comes to sports is just, well, spot on amirite? 🫤🙈

I’d make him listen to Rush 24/7 for a month.

This. He's always just been a whiner with nothing valuable to add. Seemed like he would be fine to get along with in person if just talking about normal things outside of the Bills.

People comparing him to radio hosts like Stern is comparing apples to oranges, IMO. A radio show has a template that's supposed to be funny and provocative, but they make that clear and they differentiate the off-color jokes on their show from the values they actually do promote. It's also like a comedian, like Dave Chapelle on stage.

That is not Jerry Sullivan. As far as I know, that's also not the purpose/template for the show, but I could be wrong.
