It’s wild this much attention for a guy who averaged  8.5 and 4.3 ypc his last 2 years.

never expected to feel this desperation at 10-3.

i dont really get why this move is considered so desperate. We have been in on OBJ for months, publicly had him in for a visit. That right there signals we have wanted to add to the WR room all season. OBJs health wasnt where we wanted it to be, but that doesnt mean we dont want to add at WR. So...we added a guy that we think can help us. It just happened to be Cole Beasley.

The other team that courted OBJ was Dallas and they *also* signed an aging vet WR. I dont recall many people here saying Dallas is so desperate. A team that feels they have a chance at a SB wants to add talent to the roster.

If you separate the specific player from the acquisition of a WR it is not a desperate move. Would we be calling this desperate if we had signed TY Hilton instead? In a perfect world, yes we wouldnt need to add talent at all. So its an admission that our roster isnt where we want it. But this is no more an admission of that than the courting of OBJ.

And how many of those plays were critical 1st downs. How much does he help open up the offense for Davis and Diggs

Not so much the last 2 years. Besides becoming a distraction, he is a declining player.

personally, I’m whatever with it. I think he said a lot of dumb things and acted like a teenage girl on social media but if he can help, he can help. one of the things I loved about football is takes players of all different backgrounds to come together. I do think there are some people who view him as some kind of hero and won’t be so accepting of a player who’s views they didn’t agree with, especially one who has been in decline.

but as one of the biggest fans of the Beasley signing at the time and who has one of his songs on my playlists, I hope he helps, I just don’t think he is the player some of you think he is.  But hopefully he makes some plays and can stay off social media for 2 months. For adult male, that shouldn’t be hard.

We added him for his blocking skills, Oline needs help......

CTW, you leaving out the fact that they will use him on jump balls in the corner of the end zone is equivalent to an April 16th, 1912 news story with the headline "White Star cancels all Titanic cruises for the remainder of the year."

I just don’t think he is much of a threat at this point. I would rather have healthy Crowder (or McKenzie if he could catch). I wasn’t a fan of OBJ either but he is probably the better player and could be an upgrade and push all guys down the depth chart (if healthy which is a major question).

Just need a guy who will catch those first down routes that are being dropped.

If McKenzie doesn't have TWO first down drops, on the second one, we get a first down in the red zone and perhaps put that game out of reach.  Instead we had to sweat it out.

Some People just don’t realize just how important 3rd down completions are. It’s often the difference between winning and losing. If we don’t have those drops last week the media is now talking about how dominant the offense was.

Did you really just post his YPC from 4 catches? To prove a point?  Bwhahahahaha

That’s a fair point. He just might not be able to get the separation anymore.  Dudes get old real quick in the nfl.

But none of your other suggested options are available, therefore: Cole Beasley. OBJ is hurt, Crowder is hurt, and McKenzie hasn’t been reliable and we can’t wait for him to figure it out this late in the year. Shakiir is promising but needs more time in the oven.

Beasley is our best bet at salvaging the slot this late in the season.

Come on dude. If you agree with him, it’s one thing. But he was challenging fans to fights (which is hilarious because he is the one guy fans could probably take).    Players live in their bubbles and don’t care but he certainly was a distraction to the team.

Love getting thumbs down for stating facts haha. Cole has become a cult hero. Good for him.

Your facts are in a vacuum. A guy who averages 8 yards per catch but has a 90% first down completion rate is extremely valuable. He’s often the difference between scoring 17 points and 28 points. You’ve got to keep drives alive by moving the chains.

How about 8.5 on 82 catches and 37 first downs? Is that a bigger sample size?

it’s weird the groupies who feel the need to defend him like he’s some hero. He was in serious decline in 2021. The Bucs were super desperate at receiver & kept him for a week with Brady.

if he helps, great. But some of you are kinda emotional defending the guy. He was crying last time he was here because he thought he was getting booed when people were saying Beas.

He didn’t though. It was 37 out of 82 (45%, his last season here).

I hope he plays well and just doesn’t tweet.

That’s much higher than anything we currently have in the slot so he’s a plus for the team.

Yeah as we've seen........particularly when playing 3 games against division rivals since the bye........the Bills deficiencies in the receiving corps are well identified.

Nothing is coming easy in the air......except maybe situations where they play hurry up and try to trap opponents into favorable personnel matchups like they have been able to do at the end of the half recently.

But if you gotta' play hurry up to not suck that's not championship offense.

They are a station to station offense right now........the big play in any TD drive now is often a back breaking Josh Allen run.

But they lack a reliable 3rd down guy from the slot...........and washed as he may be.......Beasley might still be able to be that guy to keep the chains moving.

Even if you just look at the handful of small plays he made in Tampa this year.........those are things the Bills can't get(sadly) from Lil' Dummy or Shakir.

I'd add a reliable 1st and 2nd down guy. It would sure be nice to see more 3rd and 1 or 2s than we've seen recently.

Josh Allen ( according to reports) felt that bringing back Beasley (and Brown) was a great idea. That’s all I need to know. Certainly more important than some fans getting their feelz in a wad over our slot WRs opinions on twitter. I feel better about the Bills offensive prospects going forward than I did a few weeks ago. Cheers to “ the band” being back together ! Go Bills!

IMO, this is the problem. This is a football team, not a summer camp. Football players are needed, not friends. Same with Knox.

Yeah, I'd like to assume that Gentry fills a scout team role as well or better than any of the other WR so he contributes in that way.  But he's 27 and has 3 NFL receptions (back in 2017) for 35 yds on 7 targets.  He doesn't play ST.

Perhaps next year the Bills should focus the PS on stashing and retaining WR who might develop into capable NFL WR and contribute to the team down the stretch when injuries strike.
