Personally I think it doesnt matter if the head coach is offensive or defensive. As long as they are a good coach, surrounded by other good coaches, I think either can succeed. It just seems that most teams want an offensive minded coach since McVay. Quote
thenorthremembers Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 I think he'll get interviews. I dont think he will get a job. I fully expect Dorsey to get a long look from Carolina as well. Has ties to the organization, played college football and was in Buffalo with Dan Morgan. A lot of connections in Carolina to Dorsey. Quote

Airseven Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 To play devil's advocate, Frazier is an old breed. But if the Texans hired Lovie Smith then anything is possible. 1 Quote

Big Turk Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Been hearing this for many years now. Never has happened. Likely won't this year either. Quote

I agree with this but the league is absolutely trending on the offensive side of the ball for HC. 1 Quote

I think the more consistent theme is youth over experience as many of the recent hires have been on the younger side. Seems like teams want that guy that is willing to spend 100 hours a week at the job 2 Quote
WyoAZBillfan Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 (edited) Do the Patriots get a pick for this being posted again as a topic(every year thing it seems)? Or do they just get another pick regardless? Asking for a friend. Edited December 8, 2022 by WyoAZBillfan 1 Quote

Bills!Win! Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 (edited) Will he get an interview that lasts 13 seconds?? Im probably going to get every possible reaction from this comment Edited December 8, 2022 by Bills!Win! 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 Quote

Yup - and it's also why the team is golfing in late January instead of getting ready for a super bowl. Quote
Charles Romes Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 If he wins the super bowl losing Miller and Hyde he’s certainly a head coach somewhere. If he goes out in embarrassing fashion like the last two years he stays. 1 Quote
BillsVet Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 (edited) I doubt any franchise is going to go for a defensive coordinator who is 64 when next season starts. EDIT: It's ageist, yes, but the NFL is a young man's game. Defensive coordinators as HC's are fewer because it's an offensive game. Almost 2/3rds of HC's who began the season were not from the defensive side. It's also a consideration that this is McD's scheme that Frazier manages for him. Whether that's fair or factors into hiring him. And, to @BullBuchanan's point, he'll be evaluated on whether that prospective team will invest in defense as much as the Bills have. And when you're at or near the top in many categories it's hard to quantify how much better he made that unit. Teams will consider that as well. Perhaps Houston will hire him after they inevitably fire Lovie Smith and before that David Culley. Edited December 8, 2022 by BillsVet Quote

Exactly. What are we giving up this year? I'm assuming close to 30 ppg. Have we ever even cracked the top 20 in defensive scoring under Frazier? Quote

Frazier will likely fall into the latter category, again. Strong Consideration is what they're calling The Rooney Rule nowadays. 1 Quote
