Brand J Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 Deion choosing to punt from Oregon’s 38 on 4th and 8 trailing 0-13 was surprising. Quote
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 So Oregon going to run up the score here Because of some irrational dislike for Colorado and Deion? Pretty lame. 1 Quote

He's good for college football but I think we all kinda knew how this one was going to swing. 3 Quote

It’s only a matter of time before he absolutely dominates recruiting and the transfer portal and NIL and all that. I also think to the casual fan, it’s become like Tiger Woods. Everyone is watching him and pulling for him. No one is out there rooting for Jim Furyk (aka Dan manning) to win. Quote

I completely agree with you. However, there is an air that both he and his players carry themselves with that rubs some people the wrong way. That said, the bridges he burns will likely just light his path forward. 2 Quote

It was 35 to nothing and 42 to nothing right after half... playing solid ball These are division 1 football players.. there is no quit They were not throwing the ball 40 yards down the field up 42 to nothing... Stop them Oregon did nothing disrespectful Edited September 24, 2023 by Buffalo716 1 Quote

Pretty lame. No. It is running up the score for rankings. Oregon wants to be in the playoff. When you get a chance to beat a ranked opponent big you take it. Like @Buffalo716 said above... if they are throwing 40 yard bombs fair enough. They were just playing football. 1 Quote

At the time that I posted it And based on the comments made at halftime, I thought that they were going to run it up just for the sake of it. But they obviously took their foot off the gas for the entire 4th quarter to run clock. 1 Quote

Prime has obviously been very good for college football’s bottom line. I’ve watched Colorado games, enough said. My concern is that this feel good story isn’t all what it seems. College football has always been somewhat shady with coaches who have their own interests, far apart the student/athlete interests. However, I think Prime has taken it to the next level, and I’m not sure I like that direction. He essentially fired last years roster, using the transfer portal to build his team. He didn’t break the rules, but it shatters any myth that remains about the educational side of sports. The release of pro athletes doesn’t bother me as much, but there should be many reasons one chooses a college. It’s sad to think Prime could have fired some guy who always dreamed of attending Colorado, or maybe a player who valued their education. I just don’t like the message it sends. Quote

That myth has been dead for years and Deion had nothing to do with it. The transfer portal has nothing to do with him either. You seem to be upset with the NCAA but are laying all the blame at the feet of Deion. 1 Quote

You’re correct, the NCAA is definitely to blame, and the myth has been dead for years. I just think Deion was the first to take full advantage. I don’t have an issue with Deion himself, it’s more the way he’s being discussed. He’s a very polarizing coach, and it seems perspectives on Prime are both on the more extreme ends. I struggle with the media narrative that Deion is somehow morally superior to other NCAA coaches. That’s what I’m seeing play out in the media, but that’s just my opinion. There seems to be a message that Deion is some saint like figure here to save college athletes. In reality, he’s just as ruthless as any other college coach. Let’s just give him credit for his accomplishments as they come. I actually enjoy watching that Colorado team, and can’t wait to see what Prime achieves. Edited September 27, 2023 by SirAndrew Quote

Like I said, I'm not too much into college ball, some of the rules are just dumb to me ( 1 foot down, knee down play over etc.)... only have it on to fill in a bit of time until my yard guy gets here. Go Buffalo's... Go Beavers lol. 1 Quote

Similar to his D3 days, when he doesn’t have the supreme talent advantage he isn’t much. Quote

It takes time to develop players and depth. His team fought back and made it interesting today when I thought the rout was on. I’ll give the self-promoter and his guys credit for that. 2 Quote

I don’t love the Prime experience either, but was impressed that his team kept fighting. Shadeur Sanders also seems like the real deal, and I wasn’t convinced before seeing how he responded to adversity yesterday. 1 Quote
