Charles Romes
Those refs were so annoying yesterday, on a mission to get involved. No more so when they whistled Hamlin for 55 free yards for a little hand check when he had his head totally turned and got all ball. When the DB’s head is totally turned and he gets all ball the whistle needs to be swallowed. But he is bad in coverage and lacks speed. Decent for a back up but do not see him as a future starter let alone star. I would love to be wrong on him. 55 minutes ago, Over 29 years of fanhood said: In coverage he’s a wal mart greeter As the video states, Hamlin has played man coverage for 27% of his snaps and only allowed 4 receptions for 29 yards on the year. Plus, the video shows how good he is at his coverage assignments, whether helping to double a player like Jefferson, or adjusting his assignment based on what the offense or his teammates are doing, to make a play on the ball/ball carrier or disrupt routes. So, not sure where you guys are getting the "bad in coverage" notion. And even in the Vikings game, Jefferson only made one big play when Hamlin was over the top of him (safety help). And pound for pound, the kid has to be one of the best tacklers on the team. He has saved a lot of big plays from happening. People forget how important sure tackling is until they have a team with guys that aren't sure tacklers. Same for Dane. What he lacks in coverage skills, he makes up for in fast, sure tackles and run support. We have all known that Poyer and Hyde have been the heart and soul of this defense for years and a major part of why it works. Hamlin has made the Micah Hyde injury bearable. He can be asked to do what Micah did (and will only get better with more experience). But I don't think they can ask the same things of Jaquan. He can't seem to disguise and dissect the way the other three can. Now if Poyer can just stay healthy, our safeties can once again be a strength on this team, thanks to Hamlin's play. 5 2 2
Buffalo_Stampede
I like Hamlin next to Poyer/Hyde next year.
Coach Tuesday
So with him you have to look at the improvement curve - he seems to be getting better and better. With an offseason preparing as the starter there is no reason he can’t step in next year and take his game to the next level. This regime develops players in the defensive secondary. BananaB
He’s played well. It will get easier for him especially once we gets some more guys healthy. Kid hits hard and flys up to make some solid plays in run support. He has missed a few though

Oh boy oh boy nothing gets Daddy Official's nipples harder than screwing a player out of a great play." I hate the refs. What were we discussing again? His 40 time was 4 hundredths slower than Hyde's. And at this stage of his career, I bet Hyde has lost at least a tenth. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Damar_Hamlin or https://nflcombineresults.com/playerpage.php?f=Damar&l=Hamlin&i=30474 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micah_Hyde_(American_football) or https://nflcombineresults.com/playerpage.php?i=10237 In fact, his 10-yard split was significantly faster than Hyde's. Nephilim17
Great video. Really shows he's a reallly smart player who isn't afraid to get dirty too. He's going to replace one of our two great but aging safeties pretty soon — for economic reasons — but should do a capable job.

I won’t argue the math. I think processing speed and foot speed are part of the same formula. There is a sweet spot.

Straight Hucklebuck
Well Hyde and Poyer weren’t All Pros when the Bills got them. Bills need to figure out what happened against the Browns late in that game because they gave up huge completions.

I love poyer and hope they keep him, but i think his age is gonna work against him. We have a lot of tough decisions coming up this off-season and the next. he's 31. He could easily play through a 4 year contract at peak performance. I don't get why people keep making a deal about his age when safety is often a good role for older players. wppete
Pretty Crazy Hamlin and Dane Jackson grew up together. Started together in Pitssburgh and now starting together in the NFL. Cool story. 1
HappyDays
I think he's the defensive version of Gabe Davis. He gets fans excited with flashes but ultimately the scheme is more responsible for success than the player. A wonderful #3 but a bit underwhelming as a starter. If we hand him the starting job next year I don't expect him to step up and replace Poyer's level of play. I would much rather just pay Poyer and know what I'm getting next year.
