BRH Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 I met him once, when I was an intern on Capitol Hill in 1989. We didn’t share a party affiliation, but I wanted to see him speak because, well, you know, Jack Kemp. I went up to him after his talk, shook his hand, and told him I was a big fan from Rochester. He exclaimed, “Rochester? All RIGHT!” and clapped me on the back so hard I almost spit up a lung. As I said, we didn’t share a party, but I always liked and respected him. He was a good man. Too few of those left. 1 Quote
Sestak4ever Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 I think we picked him up on a $100 waiver wire acquisition due to a screw up by the Chargers. Quote

I've been around since the Rockpile days as well and I don't recall many using "Jackie" Kemp regularly...maybe it's my feeble mind, but again, I just don't recall. Quote

That's correct, Gilman thought he could sneak him through, think he had a broken finger, Saban claimed him and he only played the last four games of the 1962 season. Quote

If jerseys had been available back then, he may well have set a sales record only now rivaled by Josh Allen. When he retired and ran for Congress and VP, he may well have surpassed his playing exploits in the eyes of WNYers. Thank you, Jack, for the wonderful memories. Rest In Peace. Ahhhh Chandler. We seem to be about the same age. Do you think we'll see a Bills S B win before go to heaven? 1 Quote

The City was devastated. This would be the same as losing Josh Allen in a silly practice. I guess I met him about 5 times, mostly at charity events or fund raisers. I that you sitting on his lap? holla83 Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 I saw these two older gentlemen walking into the stadium a few years ago. One was wearing a Kemp jersey and the other was wearing a Lamonica jersey. Quote

By the time our championship run ended, he only went by Jack. But that was 9 years into his career. 4 hours ago, RevWarRifleman said: Ahhhh Chandler. We seem to be about the same age.
