st pete gogolak Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 This is NOT an excuse. EVERY team suffers injuries. Baltimore's season was wiped out last year with injuries. Chargers this year. Pittsburgh lost the Defensive Player of the Year for half a season. But if Hyde and Poyer were healthy and played every game this year, I believe this team is 9 - 0, maybe 8 - 1 (possible would have lost Jets debacle regardless). It's pretty obvious that they are the heart and soul of this defense. Right now, forget about home field. Goals: (1) cross your fingers we are healthy as possible going into playoffs; (2) clean up the turnovers; (3) find a way to run for first downs on 2nd and short and 3rd and short. 3 8 2 Quote

RoyBatty is alive Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 (edited) I was think the exact same thing. Poyer saved the Baltimore game, a game we were lucky to to win. I am not reaady to abandon hopes of home field after two bad losses. Edited November 14, 2022 by RoyBatty is alive 2 Quote

NewEra Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 Agreed. Sucks that injuries have had such a negative impact on our season. 1 Quote
dorquemada Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 We have an all-pro injury roster that counts for something, right? conversation with grandkids 20 years from now: "Grandpa, where were you when the Bills had the best Injured Reserve in the whole NFL?" 1 Quote

Don't see how you could make such an assumption when we aren't generating hardly any pass rush to speak of, and our offense has done almost nothing in the second half for 3 straight games now. 1 Quote

It is truly amazing that people continue to critique the defense and look for Frasier's replacement when the defense made significant game winning stops. Yes they gave up 33 points. They were also out what, Hyde, Poyer, Elam, Rousseau, and I believe Edmunds for most of this game. The Bills org has built a very strong team that continues to compete despite getting hit by the injury bug. One only needs to look at the Ravens last year as a team that completely collapsed when hit with injuries. Edited November 14, 2022 by What a Tuel 1 Quote
Einstein Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 You’re correct. We have an all-pro roster that has covered up poor coaching for a while. Take away the all/pro’s and you’re left with just coaching. 1 1 1 Quote

Not really 33, we gave them the 7 on the Allen fumble so even with overtime it was 26 points, only 23 in regulation. Quote

st pete gogolak Posted November 14, 2022 Author Posted November 14, 2022 Point of the post is not revisionist history or wishful thinking. Some injuries are devastating, some not as much. If Hyde and Poyer play yesterday, we 100% win that game. Probably win in Miami as well. If Poyer can come back healthy and team with Hamlin, I think we'll be ok. Quote
BillsFan130 Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 The common denominator to the bills 3 losses? 0 offensive Touchdowns in their 3 losses in the 2nd half. That is why they aren’t undefeated, not cause of injuries 3 1 Quote
BuffaloBaumer Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 And if the Browns had Watson from day 1 this season, they would probably take a run at a Super Bowl. The Bills will NEVER EVER be as healthy as they were last year when 13 seconds happened and it seems as they they have STILL not overcome that mental lapse that takes place in the last few minutes. The Bills are the Ravens of last year with injuries and we just have to hope 2023 is different... Quote

We gave up 13 seconds and the Hail Murray with a healthy roster. We've been giving up 3rd and long and 4th and long as long and McD and Frazier have been here. Injuries are completely unrelated to what's happening here. it's situational decision making that's the problem - not talent. 1 Quote
Solomon Grundy Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 I totally agree with the title of this thread. My question is that they traded for a veteran safety that knows their system, why put a 1st time starter out there with another rookie against one of the best receivers in the league?? Quote
