DabillsDaBillsDaBills Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 We traded a healthy scratch in Moss and a 6th round pick for Hines to be our 3rd string RB. Not sure why so many posters had big expectations for him. 1 Quote
mjt328 Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 The great success of Brandon Beane/Sean McDermott is how well they are connected, and always seem to be working on the same page. However, it's starting to become (very) apparent this is ONLY true on the defensive side of the ball. Why did we give Dawson Knox a big extension, and then completely stop using him? Why did we draft James Cook and Khalil Shakir, then make no effort to get either involved in the offense? Why did we trade for Nyheim Hines and then not use him either? The offensive side of the ball is a mess. It's Josh Allen forcing the ball to Stefon Diggs, and then nothing. 2 Quote

The Vikings traded for Hockensen and he's immediately put to use, CMC is traded for and instantly slots into the 49ers hyper complicated run game. Such a joke to pretend that Hines couldn't know the playbook by now. The coaching staff are floundering. Cousins said that Hockenson learned the playbook in 4 days. Quote
since79 Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 It goes to the staffs thoughts on roles. In their eyes a return guy cannot be involved in the offense. They need to focus on returning only. Shakir was caught in this predicament. Could not spend enough time on offense because he was studying to be a return guy. You get Hines, thought is frees up Shakir to study the offense and make him available. Bring Duke up for returns so Hines can study for offense. It will become a rotating take turns returning with none of them in the offense wasting three roster spots because we don't feel they can prepare enough. Given the time they want guys to dedicate to special teams, we would have the second coming of Tasker. Although teams play can turn a game at times our preparation looks like not enough even though we dedicate unlimited resources to the effort. We need a running game, relief out of the backfield, a competent slot guy or TE to compete against the double high look. We incorporate none of that now because the staff lacks confidence in those that will give you that. If you believe your ability to evaluate talent is superior, how do you end up with guys you are not comfortable using. If and when they play, if they excel you are proven wise, if not you are exposed for what you are. You cannot play in fear, fear of losing because of mistakes or fear of being exposed will result in poor decision making and execution. The Fear has exposed itself many times when trying to defend a lead, in bad decisions in game management and challenge decisions. The fearless one is Allen who you give no extra resources to play with. Take the training wheels off these guys, let them ride or fall but shortchanging Allen with needed weapons for opportunity will continue to end in failure. Quote

Yet, here we are two games in and he has just TWO TOTAL TARGETS!!! Meanwhile, the 49ers acquire Christian McCaffery from the Panthers and he has made an IMMEDIATE impact. They actually *gulp* GET HIM TOUCHES AND UTILIZE HIM ON OFFENSE!!! I feel as if this is an utter failure by the Bills to take advantage of the skills of a player that they obviously coveted as Beane said in an interview that he had wanted him in Buffalo before. I do not know if it is McDermott or Dorsey, but someone has to answer for what I feel is a criminal underuse of a talent we so badly need. Two targets through two games is pathetic! Hines was brought in to return punts and be a depth RB. As returning punts let Shakir focus on WR. Yet like last year we lack a backup TE. Edited November 14, 2022 by The Jokeman Quote

This team is just clueless I am a Singletary fan as a runner but if they aren't going to line him up behind the QB.......then you want the quicker option on the field. Cook and Hines are a bit better suited for the finesse running attack they want to employ, IMO. Edited November 14, 2022 by BADOLBILZ Quote

Hines is a late season insurance policy and just another weapon you have to account for even if it's a few snaps. Not to mention bills have been uncommonly lucky with injuries at RB (knock on wood). Not sure what Eric did to deserve criticism . I thought he and Kent Hull were the best centers we've ever had. 1 Quote

All you get are hollow McDermott answers about running it better, and Dorsey just gives you some canned “game flow” answer to everything. 1 hour ago, DabillsDaBillsDaBills said: We traded a healthy scratch in Moss and a 6th round pick for Hines to be our 3rd string RB. Not sure why so many posters had big expectations for him. This a good point. He’s an alright pass catching RB. Like JD McKissic, there is nothing to get excited about. He’ll catch 0-3 passes a game for 0-20 yards. That’s what he is. And on this team, he’ll never see a traditional carry. He wasn’t that great in Indy. He’s always been an ok player. Quote
Giuseppe Tognarelli Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 (edited) Honestly, it really ticks me off. It's like we have no killer instinct in terms of involving new pieces. McCaffrey goes to the 49ers and he's immediately the whole offense. Toney was massively featured for KC yesterday. Yet we trade for Hines and he's on the field for 6 plays, and instead of playing Marlowe, we give Lewis his first start and he throws the game. Furthermore, we refuse to actually use James Cook or Shakir. If Beckham is smart, he won't sign here because he won't really play. Edited November 15, 2022 by Giuseppe Tognarelli Quote
