Seems like a lot slower version of Milano

I don't think he's slower physically, but mentally at this point, being a rookie and all, which is where the struggles in coverage start. Milano had the same issues early on.

I think the defense will do it's best to cover for Bernard's deficiencies today.

Bummer on Milano, but surprised they’d go Bernard over Dodson. I’m good with getting a look at the rook, but didn’t seem like something McD would do.

Agreed. It seemed that they had Dodson ahead of Bernard. Not sure if it was clear that he comes first instead of Milano specifically though.

Anyway, I am not disappointed. I want to see him play. You never know who is going to be available in playoffs so let other guys gain some experience.

He was atrocious in coverage during PS.

How he does against the run is prob going to be more important

They’re doing their best on WGR to play up Nyheim Hines speed factor like he’s a breakaway runner.

Saying he moves like a WR.

I think he moves like a scat back, or as Chan Gailey would say - a water bug.

Saying he take it to the house whereas Singletary gets caught.

This is not Reggie Bush at USC. He’s an upgrade over Zack Moss, but I’d rather see the Bills continue to Singletary and Cook as the primary runners.

In what way?

Like make a tackle and not giving up 7 extra yards or whiffing or choosing the wrong gap. He has played well this year until Green Bay and he was atrocious, if we get that play with a rookie LB out there we could be in trouble with time of possession and really putting it all on JA to play a mistake free game. Missing both safeties and Milano is a big ask without Edmunds stepping up to be “the man” in the defense. It is time for him to play and mature into an all pro.

Edmunds isn't going to be asked to play safety or SLB. He's going to be expected to do exactly what he's been doing already.

Bernard, Hamlin, and Johnson are the ones needing to step up.

Nope, Edmunds going to be expected to play two LB positions at the same time today.

Bernard has slug speed in coverage but is a sneaky good blitzer.

Thinking makes you slow.

All his college tape/draft analysis had him as a Milano clone.  Great blitzer and fast for a LB.

Maybe that was all overrated, but he could also look slow because the game hasn’t slowed down for him yet.

So what you actually meant to say was the def line needs to have a better game than last week… it’s ok though, we all make mistakes

I don't think there is any such thing as a trap game this year when they know that the key to the Super Bowl is home field advantage in the playoffs. There is pressure to stay ahead of the Chiefs every single game.

Bernard is plenty fast.  Almost every rookie says the NFL was really fast for then rookie year.  Hopefully the game slowed down for Bernard some.  He was a playmaker his last college year.

Milano should be All Pro.  His diagnosis, reaction time, tackling form- fantastic!  Bernard I'm sure is watching plenty of Milano tape.  He is a great player to try and emulate

And still winning

Yeah, during the KC game I was a bit salty that the announcers were making a big deal out of KC injuries and didn't mention all the injuries the Bills had been dealing with.

Then I thought about it and realized that's truly a compliment - when "next man up" is taking care of business, the injuries go unremarked.
