Every time I think of the 2010 draft and look at Torell Troup, I'm reminded that Rob Gronkowski was picked next.

Worst is a bold term, they obviously did very poor. Getting a 1st for Chubb helps somewhat I guess, but drafting Allen or Jackson was obviously the right move in hindsight.

My point isn’t that the trade resulting from picking Chubb at 5 will beat out on drafting Allen at 5, but the story has not been fully written yet. 
 

Also, there have been many worse returns than a 1st after 4 years of play for a top 5 pick. Take Baker Mayfield from the same draft, who went 1 OA, then traded him for scraps to Carolina. 

Remember, they traded their first for Russ. The first they just got is the 49ers 1st, which will be pretty late. So them sucking this year only gets the Seahawks a better pick.

go look at a few raiders drafts fro a couple years back. They would have loved the broncos draft.

Getting Bradley Chubb alone makes it not nearly the worst draft ever. Jets in that Draft were much worse- the best player they drafted was Darnold and the rest were bad.

There were some circumstances around that 2018 draft for Denver you need to understand

 

Denver at that time, and up until just this year, was being run by a trust.  They had just come off a losing season under Vance Joseph and Elway the GM, was looking to make a coaching change.  he wanted to bring back Mike Shanahan.  However, the trust wouldn't allow it, and didn't want to be paying Joseph and others not to be coaching.  Elway was kind of painted into the corner of giving Vance Joseph another year, along with an ultimatum to win or be fired.  Joseph had already been stuck with Paxton Lynch (I have a very interesting story about the drafting of Lynch that involves the Chiefs, Cowboys, and Roger Goodell...tampering)  ...Joseph requested a vet QB and so they signed Keenum.  He wasn't "already there".  Having signed Keenum, Denver wasn't really in teh QB market....the coach was fighting to keep his job and would not have been interested in taking a QB and would not have been interested in developing that QB...so at 5 they took Chubb.  A highly rated, ready to go right now, pass rusher.

 

It may very well have been different if Elway got to hire Shanahan and they would have then been in the QB market and may well have taken Allen, ready to develop him and with the luxury of being a new regime, and expedrience regime...it might have worked out there.  As it was, they weren't at point where it would have made sense for them.  

 

Imagine what might have happend if Elway went ahead and drafted Allen, gave him to that coach, who got fired anyhow, and then moved on to another coaching staff that had no ties to Allen.

It worked out for Allen. That would have been a sucky situation to be in. Allen got to come here and have stability. Of course, he had virtually no offensive talent around him, but at least he had a stable front office and coaches committed to his development.

I think you can look at most of the drafts the Bills had during the drought and argue almost all of them were worse than the Broncos draft

Broncos passed on Allen a year after Bills traded out of the Mahomes spot (with Taylor as QB). It happens. Sutton and Jewel are still productive players for them. Chubb was good when healthy and fetched them another 1st. Not awful.

That was a solid draft outside of Maybin. 2016 was worse.

Only Sammy Morris amounted to anything and that wasn’t much. Leif Larsen was picked 5 slots before Tom Brady. Dark times.

 

The 2014, 2015, 2016 Bills drafts were arguably as bad, if not worse.
