st pete gogolak Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 OK, maybe not the absolute worst in NFL history but they are sitting at #5 in a supposedly historic QB class and their QB is Case Keenum. Not only do they not draft Josh Allen but they turn down a trade with the Bills because they absolutely, positively have to have Bradley Chubb at #5. They churn through Keenum, Paxton Lynch and Drew Lock and decide they are a QB away from the Super Bowl and give the farm away for what looks like a washed Russell Wilson. The cherry on top is now trading Chubb for a #1. What a frickin' disaster. 5 1 1 5 1 Quote
Watkins101 Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 Maybe it was horrible, and stand-alone it’s a pretty bad sequence of events. But Maybe they get a franchise QB from the pick next year and it ends up working out for them. Many people said similar things when the bills traded the pick where Pat Mahomes was taken, until Allen proved himself in this league, and the trade looks like a win for both parties now. My point isn’t that the trade resulting from picking Chubb at 5 will beat out on drafting Allen at 5, but the story has not been fully written yet. Also, there have been many worse returns than a 1st after 4 years of play for a top 5 pick. Take Baker Mayfield from the same draft, who went 1 OA, then traded him for scraps to Carolina. 9 Quote
Generic_Bills_Fan Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 (edited) They got more value than chubb is worth imo…he’s still gonna help the dolphins for sure but the broncos won that trade imo. A first and they upgraded a 5th round pick to a 4th in addition to getting his contract off the books. Also got chase Edmonds but that’s not worth much doesnt make their 2018 draft any better obviously but I’m not gonna mock them for the Chubb trade Edited November 2, 2022 by Generic_Bills_Fan 2 Quote

SoCal Deek Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 A bunch of armchair GMs on here can watch the meltdown and say ‘what the heck’…but what does that say about the professional pundits who were all saying the Broncos were for real just two months ago? Amazing 1 Quote
st pete gogolak Posted November 2, 2022 Author Posted November 2, 2022 Hey, the Bills have messed up more than their share of drafts and no, it's not the worst ever. But this isn't really looking at what the Broncos have done in hindsight. They decided to stick with Case Keenum in a QB rich draft. Kind of crazy. Quote

TheBrownBear Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 Not even close. They got 4+ years of Chubb and still were able to flip him for a 1st round pick. Josey Jewell is also still there and starting games at LB. 2 Quote

Aussie Joe Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 Remember when a lot of people here used to cry about the Mahomes draft/ trade with the Bills ? We dont hear a lot about that anymore for some reason... Quote
co_springs_billsfan Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 How about the Saints trading all of this for Ricky Williams: 1999 - 1st (12th Overall) 1999 - 3rd 1999 - 4th 1999 - 5th 1999 - 6th 1999 - 7th 2000 - 1st (2nd Overall) 2000 - 3rd 1 1 6 1 2 1 Quote
Straight Hucklebuck Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 2010 Buffalo was pretty bad: Spiller Troup Carrington Marcus Easley Ed Wang Arthur Moats Danny Batten Levi Brown Kyle Calloway and 2011 was horrible as well. 2010 - 2016 were complete wastes. 5 2 3 Quote
Brand J Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 This would be an interesting topic: name the Buffalo Bills worst draft. For me, it’s 2000. Quote 1 26 Erik Flowers DE Arizona State 2 58 Travares Tillman FS Georgia Tech 3 89 Corey Moore LB Virginia Tech 4 121 Avion Black WR Tennessee State 5 156 Sammy Morris RB Texas Tech 6 194 Leif Larsen DE UTEP 7 233 Drew Haddad WR Buffalo 7 251 DaShon Polk LB Arizona Only Sammy Morris amounted to anything and that wasn’t much. Leif Larsen was picked 5 slots before Tom Brady. Dark times. 4 1 Quote

Also they didn't get 4+ years from Chubb, he missed a year and a half worth of games during that time. Only 26 sacks to date. Quote

Only Josh & Lamar emerged as QBs worth taking. Of the 4 QBs taken in the top 10, 3 of them busted-2 are backups in Carolina and the other is out of the league. Of the 13 QBs taken only 3 are with the team that drafted them & the 3rd guy (Rudolph) is a 3rd stringer on a bad team. Quote
