But, the same thing was done by McDermott with Singletary his rookie year. Until about the 2nd half of the year.

I don't think it's the same thing.

Motor saw almost 70% of the snaps his very first game

2nd game, he got hurt, missed 3 games, worked his way in 1 game, then back up to 66-96% of the snaps.

Cook's usage pattern is much, much different.  Saw a high of 26% of the snaps and 11 carries his 2nd game, got put right back in the closet.  This past game in GB, he saw 25% of the snaps, 5 carries, 1 reception - and two days later we trade for Hines.

I think the Bills aren't happy about some aspect of Cook's development.

According to Rotowire, Cook has 2 drops on the year.

Breece Hall has 3.

Not arguing at all, but out of how many targets? I don’t think Cook has a sample size large enough to judge yet. Just let it slow down for him and I hope he can become an important part of the offense, as you’d hope for a 2nd round pick.

The TBD clown show is in full effect!!

How can you not LOVE this move?

First of all getting rid of Moss alone is addition by subtraction. I had high hopes, he sucked, we are on to Cincinnati. All you clowns bellyaching OMG BEANE DOESNT KNOW WHAT HES DOING AT RB can suck it. Only at TBD do fans expect a perfect GM, a perfect QB, a perfect OC, a perfect team every play, every down every time.

Now this doesn’t mean Cook sucks, it doesn’t mean Singletary is gone. Not one of you know what McBeane is thinking in terms of how we are going to utilize him. We can only guess and time will tell. So no we didn’t waste a second round pick on Cook.

Here’s my completely uninformed opinion which is as much of a guess as the rest of yours -

1) Singletary is going to carry the load and be spelled by Cook

2) Hines is going to start off in the 3rd down roll for both of them

All three are going too see the field with Singletary being the bell cow for as much as a RB can be on this team

I LOVE this move. Hines has talent, he’s versatile, he plays ST/RB/Slot. He’s a Swiss Army knife which we hope and think Cook turns into. I love this move because it takes the pressure off Cook and allows McBeane to bring him along and not force him into action. YES, I expected more from Cook sooner BUT just like Josh (and no not at Josh’s level so relax) you can see the talent, the potential that’s there. This allows McBeane to bring him along while we are in a SB window but not have to depend on Cook if he’s not ready. Also, the NFL season is a lot longer than college and they don’t want Cook burning out and hitting the rookie wall.

I think Singletary gets re-signed and this gives us leverage to get him to take a team friendly deal. I see all 3 of these guys next year with Cook eventually being number one after he packs on a little muscle with the TB12 method.

Add in the fact that we have Marlow back as safety insurance and Beane is a friggin WIZARD

BTW, the fact that McAfee who knows the colts inside and out loves this moves for the Bills, then lost his sht when he heard the compensation is GOLD

Cook has caught only 63% of his targets, Hines leads the league at 89%.

I mean, that sounds different until you realize Cook only has 8 targets, while Hines has 28.  So they're probably not significantly different % in a statistical sense.

Or it could be they were already looking to unload Moss on anyone that would take him and they think Hines is a better fit for our offense anyway.

Cook averaged 7 ypc and his catch went for 41.  I don't know what else you can expect from a guy on 5 carries and 1 pass target.

Not to stray too far, but what is the deal with Cook? I’ve heard he made a sour face when the Bills drafted him, and he’s maybe not a great practice player. Is there an attitude problem? I expected him to be brought along slowly to avoid putting Josh in danger, But I did expect a little more by now. (Though he seems to be progressing now.) Maybe my expectations were unreasonable? Has he been a good soldier and done all the right things?

Is there something to this, or am I making too much out of idle speculation?  I guess you need to look behind the scenes to know.   🤷‍♂️

I mean there was a guy on here the last week pretending like there was a thing because by the time they checked on him at his draft party he was telling people to quiet down and didn't look happy. Hasn't really been much from him to get much of an opinion at all on how he likes it here.

I can only tell you what I believe to be true about that.  I remember draft night when that got brought up and there was a video of him

looking mad.  Then there was an earlier video of him talking to Beane (or another Bills rep) that they were going to draft him.  He was happy with

that call and then got mad later when everyone at his party was going crazy as the draft pick was announced and he was getting another call

as the confirmed pick.  Bottom line, if my details aren't exact, is that it was a nothing thing that others are holding on to as fact.

McDermott spoke about the practice stuff, and I believe that to be true.  I think it was the "I'm good and I got a brother that's good"

rookie attitude that didn't sit well with the staff.  It seems to be over with as far as their concerned, so it's not a big deal to me too.

The first carry fumble and a dropped screen didn't help early on.  The way I see how the team and McD acted on his good plays

Sunday night makes me think he is "back on track".

FWIW.

35 yards rushing on 5 carries and his single pass target was a catch that went for 41. Looks pretty good to me.

I think a lot of people under estimate just how much a receiving threat like Hines will open up for this offense

Teams will have to make choices between spying Allen or covering Hines. Hines can take it the distance where teams didn't think singletary or moss could or would

I have been having this seen argument. Even Moss saw more action than Cook. But there is this narrative that McD doesnt play rookies. He loves to play the guys he drafted and play them early.

I like the trade and I think Moss will be a decent rb and have a decent career in the NFL.

The Bills already have a currently better version of him and Hines gives them something they were lacking.

Cook has caught only 63% of his targets, Hines leads the league at 89%.

And Cook averages twice the yardage per reception. Hines has never had a reception as long as the one Cook had on Sunday, in 4 1/2 years. Rushing the ball Hines longest run is 34 yards vs Cook at 33 yards, again that Hines best in 4 1/2 years vs Cook who's played very little in 7 games. Cook makes bigger plays. And the Colts have had a good OL during Hines time there.

Dorsey finally got his RB wide receiver. Looking forward to Hines split out wide and seeing how defenses decide to defend him because he’s gonna be a matchup problem for LBs or safeties and Dorsey is gonna love catching defenses in unfavorable sub packages as a result. I see a lot of up tempo in the near future.

I will say colts passing game wasn’t as dangerous as the bills so I would assume less holes  in coverage for him receiving

but I like both backs and adding a weapon at anytime is huge
