Bills trade for Nyheim Hines

Some futher context, I like the trade, but don't love it. Why? Because it's a bit of an upgrade over an inexperienced Cook, and solidifies Cook being the RB1 in 2023, but I don't love it, because it doesn't significantly move the Bills  closer to the SB. 

 

But with a loaded roster, that would have been next to impossible to pull off. The only feasibly player I could think of was Jerry Jeudy

In a corresponding move, the Bills release Zack Moss. Now Hines gets to take his place on the inactives list on game day.

I like it!  You can clearly see the dimension he'll bring as a proven pass catching option out of the backfield.

Is he good?  I have him on fantasy and he hasn't really done anything this year (yes, I know it is fantasy, but it does directly relate to production).  Not sure he is a huge upgrade, is he?

It means they're not gonna give Singletary a contract extension, and view Cook as having true RB1 potential - and that Moss is going to get released

I think Cook could fill the Singletary role next year.  He's potentially a more complete back than either Hines (strictly a scatback pass catching type) or Motor.

I believe he just signed a long-term deal. So maybe they are thinking he is singletary’s replacement next year too.

I don't get it, the biggest areas of need are IOL and S, and they go out and get a 3rd down back despite having used a 2nd round pick in April on a 3rd down back.  

 

Color me confused.

Hate to see Moss and a 5th rounder go.   But this is an epic win!  We can all step back from the cliff.
