US Egg Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 Sort of a clunker game. Some Bills play contributed to the clunkiness. Bills hadn’t displayed that before last night. There will be a few more. Quote
Billsfan1972 Posted October 31, 2022 Author Posted October 31, 2022 Nowhere did I say I was worried, just talking about "Expectations". Yesterday was the first game this year I was not happy with. Sure I could complain they could have played better vs. Baltimore (blames it on the weather) and they really screwed up vs. Miami where 19 times out of 20 they win the game under similar circumstances. Yesterday's second half was just bad (and heck Teef agrees!!!😉). Quote
without a drought Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 As these type of games are coming to a close, I always start thinking that the rest of the league gives a little sigh od relief to be reminded that Josh is human after all. Quote
Einstein Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 Maybe, because I have that “Monday after a loss” feeling today. Other forums are talking about how we are exposed and not as good as analysts have said. Couldn’t score more than 3 points in the second half against a bad GB team. Blah blah blah. 1 Quote

Sure I would like to see Buffalo v New England's perfect game every game, but I know what separates teams in the NFL is a small margin, week to week. In December, no one will be talking about Buffalo v Green Bay other than GB lost and Buffalo beat the future first ballot Hall of Famer. They won't be talking about how, just that GB found a way in the loss to resurrect their season. My reaction last night was pheww.. But I do think GB found away to man up, much like Buffalo did in Tampa Bay last season. I fully expect GB to go on a little run now. With the Vikings at 6-1 it's going to be hard for them to win the North. Plus, the Vikings already beat GB in week 1. GB may have to go the WC route this year. Lucky for them the NFC isn't that strong. 14 minutes ago, wjag said: Count me in the camp which is any way is okay. The first half was vintage Buffalo (after the first three & out) and well on the way to 40+ points. Then came the second half & wonder if it was hubris, taking one's foot off the gas or just bad play and they looked shall we say "normal". The Bills were gashed on the run and the offense looked lost. Allen was underwhelming, missed some throws, others were bad and made mental errors (and a few drops). And the result was a 10 point victory. Yes I'm very conflicted. Sure I expect them to be angry vs. NYJ, but was yesterday's second half an anomaly, a wake-up call or a portend of things to come. Here’s the thing. Do you recall what happened to the Patsies on the way to seemingly endless SB Ws? They played MANY games just like last night! Overwhelming talent occasionally plays clunkers and STILL wins by 10… easily! Once all Defensive hands are on deck and hopefully a trade or two, no concerns whatsoever. There is a concern about the Running game. It is sub standard and showed when the 2nd Josh pick became a reality, because they cannot run it in… with the RB… in close! The Bills are 6-1 after the tougher part of their schedule and have only the Vikings @ Home and the Bungles away as roadblocks to running the table. And NOBODY is winning at 1 Bills Drive in 2022! damj Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 Green Bay is a professional team who gets paid as well. They have a good defense and a HOF QB who was the MVP last 2 seasons. We didn't play good on either side of the ball and we still won by 10. I'm not worried Quote
UKBillFan Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 If that was the Pats, Dolphins, Jets or even Chiefs playing the second half we'd be calling it out as trash and saying they're clearly not as good as they think they are, with a weak underbelly which can be exposed. We know we can do better. We know we can do better. It's good to have this kind of warning in week eight and not in the post season. I think the defense was adapting to the situation on the ground, and basically bending not breaking. My biggest concern is Josh's interceptions. It's not like they were down to great defensive plays or down to other errors on defense. They were basic errors that any QB would be called out over, let alone someone with the undoubted skill and talent Josh has. 1 Quote

And again, poor execution around the Red Zone on the Allen interception. I think we've seen in games where Gabe Davis and the go route aren't used, this team misses it's high gear. He's not an underneath WR. Bye week blues but still a W regardless. We 100% left points off the board with Allen's 2 INTs that he even recognized at the game end being all on him. Regardless what GB's rushing stats say, we only gave up 10 points in the 2nd half on D. Quote

A little early & awaiting some other regulars to chime in. I'm not worried & certainly that wasn't the point of the thread (waiting to read that it is a LAMP Thread), just saying that was a brutal half of football I watched and "brought me a little back to earth", so to speak. SMH well I for one am glad you have grounded your expectations back to earth. I could have done without the calling out of posters and those opinions though. 2 1 Quote

Just would like to see your offensive coordinator not try to fit a round peg into a square hole when you're averaging 5.3 yards a carry as a team. Quote

Yesterday was different at least to me. Edited October 31, 2022 by Billsfan1972 Quote

Let's keep things in perspective. Before the season, analysts were saying that if we were 3-4 after our first 7 games we would be in good shape to make a run in the final 10 games. We are 6-1! Not every game is going to be perfect. Last year we would have lost this game. Just like pitchers in baseball, sometimes teams don't have things working the way they want and they have to grind out a victory. That is what we did yesterday. In another thread prior to this game someone posted the question "are the Bills peaking too early?". Now some are worried because we are not hitting on all cylinders in every game. We won by 10 points and were in control for most of the game. The 2nd half wasn’t pretty, but the Bills got the job done. We will most likely lose a game or two we should win in the remaining 10 games. It will be difficult to stay ahead if KC for the AFC best record. KC has s soft remaing schedule for most of their remaining games. We will have our ups and downs. That is the NFL. 1 Quote
