With a stadium, the seating bowl is pretty much a seating bowl. After you get past the roof, or no roof, the differences are in the areas outside the bowl itself. Most importantly, in the concourse areas…which are non existent at Rich Stadium. That’s why I’m shocked that they didn’t present any images of those areas. Those spaces are going to be the REAL upgrade.

I agree.  These 2 images seem purposely obscured and basic.  Furthermore, lots of things seem out of proportion.  I thought the big reveal would show a lot of detail, including concourses.

They must have gotten pressured to release something, either internally or from politicians.  They provided the bare minimum, plus those two panels of weird platitudes.

This thing is supposed to break ground in months.  Im sure there are very detailed shop drawings and renderings out there.

This is the first time I have felt a little nervous that all is not so smooth.

I want it to be known you are walking into the Bills house. Think Bell Center in Montreal or Rogers center I think it’s still called in Toronto.

I want Buffalos, Bills logos, Bills colors everywhere. A giant Buffalo In The opposing locker room. Bills highlights on TVs as the opposing players are walking out of the tunnel etc.

All good points and all cost next to nothing. Why you don’t see that sort of stuff in every venue is because most stadiums are used as multi-purpose facilities. People aren’t interested in seeing team logos when they go to see a concert.

A long time ago I read an article that looked into this and the finding was that over time, our kickers enjoy a higher FG % than the visiting kickers.  I also remember that the difference was more pronounced later in the year when weather is typically worse.  Wish I could find the article.

The wind in the stadium swirls and can change directions in a heartbeat. There's no predicting this.

Any article trying to claim our kickers know the wind is clearly just speculation and would also be claiming that correlation implies causation.

The wind literally cost us homefield last year against the Chiefs since we held the tiebreaker. We lost the wind game at home in December to a team that threw 3 passes.

Because the early, mid-90s Bills were great teams, people now somehow automatically equate the Buffalo weather as being an advantage for us, which defies logic when we are a pass-happy offense now.

So here’s how the software works. We model the entire facility (inside and out) and then we import the model into an animation software where we select a ‘path’ for a fly around animation. We can then take any ‘frame’ from that movie and turn it into a still shot rendering. It’s actually very easy once the computer model is built. It’s just like how they make a Pixar animated film.

it’s a goddamn drawing.

Critiquing the drawing is like watching Road Runner cartoons and saying “Actually, the thrust rating on that particular model of Acme rocket is insufficient to propel the Coyote to the speeds depicted.  Epic fail!”

Its likely that these things have been accomplished by Populous or whatever, but they haven't been paid the full amount (maybe its on contingency or something).  The Bills wont/cant cover the whole contract amount until these long-form documents are completed (hopefully December now).  Once the funding is freed up, the Bills can pay Populous, the model/renderings are delivered, and the Bills release them to the public.

They were probably waiting for this, but someone somewhere got antsy to release them today, October 27th

That’s generally not how it works. Believe me Populous is NOT designing an NFL stadium on a retainer, or an IOU. They’ve been paid as they go based on monthly invoices and progress. (Unless they’re totally crazy.)

Yeah, I work with various engineering and surveying firms and I get it.

I wonder if there is some sort of funding mechanism that prevents the Bills from taking ownership of the products and/or release them to the public until that deal is signed.

I’d guess that 2/3 of the lower bowl is uncovered as well as about 1/2 of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th levels. I think even some of the upper level will not be under complete coverage. I really hope I’m wrong and it’s a pic of bad angles.

The fisheye view of the drawing looks deceiving.  I know other have mentioned this.

If you look at the overhang at the far-left hand side of the stadium it shows the overhang covering all of the upper level with the 2nd thru 4th levels.

If this is more accurate it would be great.

All in all, for a cheaper Buffalo stadium that we all knew was going to happen, it looks good to me.

Can't wait to be there for the "inaugural" season!
