DeSantis. I like Trump's policies, but he's way to raw. It was great at first, but he should have seriously toned it down after he was elected. He would have destroyed Biden if he had.

It really doesn't matter. I mean everyone knows Trumps flaws. He is who he always has been and always will be.

However, just because DeSantis comes off as more polished and with less baggage, make no mistake he will be painted as the same nazi, racist threat to democracy as the great orange menace.

And if he wins the nomination. DeSantis will be equated to Trump. Zero difference, one in the same.

Since it's established fact that Trump is literally a nazi, racist threat to democracy.....well then there you'll have it.

DeSantis did great in the midterms. He is very conservative, but he also knows how to play the political game. Something Trump didn't do very well.

Of course.  But once you've made Trump to be Satan, everyone else is a henchman.

No argument. But he will be given the very same, if not worse,  24/7 Trump treatment.

No doubt about that.

Trump’s hold on the party seems to be melting. If he has lost Ann Coulter, maybe he better rethink his announcement next week.

The best part about Trump was 2016 when he beat Hillary. That was his peak. As much fun as it is watching liberals flail around like fish out of water over him, he is doing more damage than good at this point. But it's all been downhill from there.

Trump needs to get out of American politics and ride off into the sunset, as his style just isn't going to play with the general public. He's way too polarizing, way too much of a dick to effectively lead the country.

Go away Trump, and let the actual politicians do their thing.

My vote is for Dsanctimonious in '24

But Trump's win has created a pretty hard road ahead for any GOP candidate. Is DeSantis to anti-abortion to win the general election?

He will have to proclaim his hatred of abortion to win the GOP nomination, but that will kill him in the general election

Beyond predictable.  They need Trump.

They sure are enjoying the GOP infighting. How will McCarthy run the House with only a one or two seat majority?

Trump still might run away to Russia!

Former President Trump claimed without evidence on Thursday that he sent federal agents to Florida in 2018 to keep the state’s gubernatorial election from being “stolen” from Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).

Trump said in a Truth Social post that he helped save DeSantis’s campaign and sent the FBI and U.S. attorneys to the state to stop voter fraud.

and it begins. Or wait it never ended. Hey did you guys see 2000 mules?   I guess when you are a moron that movie makes sense.

Yall are reading way too much into abortion.

If that’s what you want to run with, go for it.

You’re losing Hispanics at a bigger and bigger clips each election.  DeSantis has some very prominent Latino surrogates that get out vote for him, and constantly raging about abortion doesn’t play well in hispanic circles - according to polling.

Roe decision will have been almost two years behind us during the ramp up to the election, instead of months.

DeSantis, I believe, has signed 15 weeks.   That’s definitely not too mainstream for America, especially when he will likely take a Presidential position that the issue belongs to the states.

We’ll see what happens if the FL Leg sends him stricter limits, which I do believe he’s said he’s open to.

R’s need a strategy for abortion, as someone who’s pro-life, I’ll admit.. it can’t be what it has been in certain states post-Roe.   But I’m confident they will.   And again, the Presidential nominee can dodge it by saying it belongs to the states and he wont sign any national legislation on it.

Whitmer, Shapiro were elected, in part, to set abortion law for their states.  And they will.   And in states that have abortion law settled, this issue did not affect the GOP, at all.  FL, OH and TX are red, but purplish GA gave six week ban Kemp a landslide victory, and the GOP had their biggest congressional successes outside FL in NY, where abortion is codified into law.

And hand the 2024 Presidency to DeSantis on a silver platter?  I'll believe it when I see it.
