"Ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft, most analysts predicted Lance or Alabama quarterback Mac Jones would be taken third overall by the San Francisco 49ers, who traded up with the Miami Dolphins in exchange for their first-round picks in 2022 and 2023 and their third-round pick in 2022."

I feel like this discussion has occurred before, but wouldn't that be spending 1 1st round pick (next year?)

They swapped 1st rounders this year, and gave up next year's pick.

Laundry basket still looking pretty full for KC

Oh yeah.  They’ll be pretty banged up til after their bye.  It’s looking like looking like Hufanga (who’s been amazing this year), Armstead and Ward are all out.

but getting Bosa back could be the difference between a W and a L.  Add Trent and you never know.

They rested guys against ATL last week so they could play against KC Sunday. Trent is back and that fixes every issue they’re having on the line. Bosa rested last week and he’ll crush Mahomes this week. If you think Von was able to get to Mahomes, Bosa will do even more damage. He’s playing out of his mind this year.

I hope Bosa and that defense can get after Mahomes but I have a feeling this game is going to be like the Chiefs - Bucs game from a few weeks ago. KC knows they can't fall further behind if they want to catch the Bills for the #1 seed. I expect them to play very well this Sunday. I hope I am wrong.

Well….they “rested” them because they were injured. If they were healthy, they would’ve played.

I agree, Bosa has been the best defensive player in the league this year.  He might even be better than Donald overall.

Yeah, it’s going to be tough for the niners to win without Armstead, Hufanga, Ward, mosely, Verrett, ekubam and cast.  Injuries have decimated the D, but Ryan’s has a nice system.  Need the pass rush to force TO’s

Im in the win at all cost this year camp. Was last year too and wanted a trade for Miller.

However, trading for McCaffrey would not have made us better and would have crippled the ability to find cheap talent to replace guys that they will not be able to afford in the next few years.

OBJ will cost nothing but cash. I don't think we need him and would pass on him. He's a possession WR coming off ACL tear. Is that really a need for this team?

I beleive Hyde is done as a Bill and three weeks ago I would have argued for a trade for a safety( assuming they don't move White to safety). But Hamlin has played well enough.

At this point I say roll with the guys we have.  Beane made the right moves in the off-season to win this year. If healthy the Bills roster is as good as anyone and I really don't see a glaring need anywhere. They are not going to give up on Brown at RT this quick. Would another capable swing OT to replace Doyle/Hart be an upgrade. Sure but its not really needed if Brown can come back quick and Q plays ok.

Dance with the one who bring you. Go Bills!!!

Sometimes the best move is the one you don't make.

This is a good trade for the Bills.

Yup. I’d love to have CMC on the team, but not at that price.

Enjoy today and this year and the next couple.  The Bills are in the same situation as Carolina was several years ago, and they were riding high and enjoying life.  Now they're fire-seling their only good player and looking into the dark tunnel of constant rebuilding.

Let's hope McBeane are able to keep the good times rolling.  Probably by holding on to draft picks and cash, to avoid breaking up our beautiful defense.

SF needed CMC to get over the top.  We didn't.

I know the price looks like a lot, but is it really more than the Bills 1st and Moss?   I'd have been a happy camper to have CMC for that.

Didn't it take a 4th for the Bills to move up 3-4 spots in the first.  San Fran will have a low 2nd and low 3rd.  It seems like all those picks combined might equal the Bills 1st.

The move makes a ton of sense for San Francisco.

The NFC -- including their own division, the NFC West -- is wide open.

They have an elite defense, some great skill position pieces, and a guy in Garoppolo who had them within a quarter of winning a Super Bowl.

The only problem is that their offense rely relies on a sound running threat, and their running backs just CAN NOT stay healthy. Kind of ironic, then, that they're bringing in CMC of all people, but I don't want to go off on an injury tangent.

Anyway, in the short term this gives them a very diverse and moveable set of skill players -- Deebo, CMC, Kittle, Aiyuk, and Juczyk are all multi-skilled chess pieces -- which should maximize Jimmy G's skillset as a physically limited game manager. In the long term, it gives them a theoretically fierce run game to keep them competitive while Trey Lance recovers and tries to re-claim the starting job.

Aside from all of that, I would have to assume that Shanahan knows CMC pretty well from the connection their Dads share.

Lastly...this is a rough move for Elijah Mitchell and Jeff Wilson fantasy shareholders 😅

Normally I'd agree, but have you seen the NFC?

Outside of Eagles...

This is a very fair point. For the Bills that much doesn’t make sense, the Niners could make the Super Bowl with an extra weapon like CMC

guessing what…a 2nd and 2 3rds?

The Bills have 20+ contracts expiring and are currently over next years estimated cap. I am glad we didn't pull the trigger on this.

Or when Tom Brady takes over at QB next year. Imagine the double TE lineup when Gronk and Kittle line up on opposite sides for Tommy.

Beane didn't want to pay the price and that is all that matters. CMC is elite when healthy but that is a big if. If the Bills make any moves before the trade deadline I hope it's to improve the OL.

An OL upgrade is definitely needed for sure. Hopefully it happens.

Its time to go all in. We need to make some moves and upgrade

It really isn't though. When you don't have a QB, every move you make should be about setting yourself up to get one. The 49ers have hit the absolute ceiling of a team with a mediocre QB - make the Super Bowl and lose to a superior QB. Their rushing offense has been really good for years. The more I think about this trade the less it makes sense.

I mean they don't exactly know what they have in Trey Lance. There's no way they can give up what they did for him to move on after one slop fest game, and an injury start 2.

Did you happen to notice the laundry list of players the niners were missing vs Atlanta? They started a practice squad along the DL, OL and secondary.

Dude is clueless.

the division isn’t really up for grabs anymore imo. Rams have the worst OL in the league.  Seattle has Geno.  AZ has a college coach.  I’d be shocked if the niners don’t win the division…..unless cmac gets broken. Again
