If you could only have one, assuming Beane could find a way to make it work, without giving up "too much" which one?

  1. 1. which do you choose:

    • Odell Beckham Jr.
      95
    • Christian McCaffrey
      96
    • Neither (is it because we don't need them, don't want to hurt chemistry or something else?)

What a strange thought process. OBJ tore his ACL in October 2020. 16 months later tore his ACL again. But the never healthy guy is CMC?

CMC has had some recent injuries but they’re all easy to come back from. OBJ will have to impact right away after ACL.

McCaffrey played 3 games in 2020 & 7 in 2021. (See below). & was already banged up earlier this season. (See below). As I pointed out, Carolina wants Multiple First round picks for him. (See below).

By contrast, while O'Dell only played 7 games in 2029, he played 14 games last year. (See below). Yes he's coming back from the ACL. But he wouldn't cost us any draft picks to aquire.

In addition, as I eluded to, if he joined KC that could be a real problem in a rematch when these teams are playing each other so close, he could be that little bit to put them over the top. If we get him they can't, we're no worse off & they're no better.

The post was commenting on injury history, cost/benefit & the chess move w/ the chiefs.

I know his history. He’s banged up this year? Who’s not banged up? It’s football.

We just can’t list injuries as a concern for McCaffery and not OBJ. Doesn’t make any sense. One guy can contribute now, the other we have no idea.

Carolina isn’t going to get what they want:

I get what you're saying. Good point. My pt: Not giving up 1st round pick for a guy who hasn't played a full season in 2 years.

In reality I doubt the Bills are paying what it would cost to get either of them IMO. But we shall see. Go Bills!

I'm going with Odell Beckham Jr.

Christian McCaffrey would definitely improve our backfield and be an upgrade over Devin Singletary/James Cook.  He would also provide a new aspect to our offense, giving us a huge threat coming out of the backfield.  It's one thing we currently don't have.

But OBJ gives us something better.  Security.

Our offense is already #2 in points per game and #1 in yardage.  We barely punt already.  We don't really need a boost on that side of the ball, as much as we need a backup in case of emergency.  Our worst games passing happened with Gabe Davis hobbled and Jake Kumerow injured.  If something happened to Davis again or Stefon Diggs, this offense would certainly take a huge dip.

Along with Kumerow, we also have Jameson Crowder done for the season.  Isaiah McKenzie has been very mistake-prone.  And the coaching staff doesn't seem thrilled with putting a rookie Khalil Shakir into the starting lineup.  So the place is already there for OBJ to slide into the lineup.

I voted 'neither'.

I don't think OBJ will be well enough to contribute much this year (could be wrong).

I don't think McCaffrey will be worth the trade cost as a one year rental or that the Bills will want to keep his big salary on the roster.

From a purely football perspective I guess I would take McCaffrey. But realistically, I would probably pass on both this year.

Beckham misses more games per season than McCaffrey. I laugh when injuries are brought into this argument.
