Mark Vader Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 One thing we have seen in recent years with the Bills when it comes to the bye week, is that Beane and Co. are always working. So, will we get a surprise contract extension or restructure during this week, or will it simply be all about getting rested up and healing during this time? Either way, it is good to have a break after the start of this season. Sitting atop the division at 5-1 feels great. Now let's see what the Bills can do to improve upon this start. GO BILLS!!! 2 Quote

Lost Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I dunno but speaking of extensions, I can't decide if I'd rather see the Bills extend Poyer or Edmunds assuming there's no way to keep them both. Poyer is an easy pick for what he's bringing to the team right now but he's got 7 years on Edmunds. Tremaine started off the season great but he was pretty quiet against KC. I only heard his name once during that game and that was Tony Romo simply mentioning that he was on the field. 2 Quote

Logic Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I don't think they're going to bring anyone in via free agency or trade. Sitting at 5-1, having just beaten the Chiefs on the road, having the #1 offensive and defensive DVOA, and with Beane being relatively hesitant to put his team in cap trouble.... What would be their incentive to make a big move? With our cornerback depth chart having gotten healthy, and with the dearth of available high quality offensive linemen, the ONLY position I could see them burnishing would be running back. Even that position, though, has improved in the past two weeks, with back-to-back good performances by Singletary and Cook against the Steelers and Chiefs. IF McCaffrey can be had for cheap, then great, but I doubt it. I predict "snooze". 2 1 2 Quote
pi2000 Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 The big move will be getting Tre White back on the field. 6 Quote

I still can't see a scenario in which all our key FA's are back next year especially since the decision to keep Knox was already made. Still think Poyer is gone unless he's willing to take a big time discount but not sure he might get what he's looking for on the open market anyway based on what happened with honey badger in the offseason. Edmunds is also still very iffy IMO. Yes he seems to be having the quintessential contract year type of breakout, but i still think it has more to do with the dline in front of him and that's not always going to be the case just like his previous 4 years here. So at this point I think he's probably not going to be resigned and I'd rather another team give him a massive payday and take our chances with in the draft/FA to replace him. Quote
Low Positive Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 All I have to say about the bye week is that it will be soooooooo much better because the Bills won on Sunday. 1 8 Quote
Greg S Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I think it's more about getting rested and getting some of our players healthy. I don't expect the Bills to make any moves. As for the games. At 1:00 I will be paying attention to the Ravens - Browns and Colts - Titans. Conference matchups. The late games will be 49ers - Chiefs and Jets - Broncos. SNF and MNF are also interesting from a Bills perspective. Fins - Steelers and then Pats - Bears. Go 49ers, Broncos, Steelers, and Bears. Quote

Edmunds is good, but does not flash "elite" like Poyer does. Edmunds seems easier to replace. Would love to keep everyone. Not an anti-Edmunds thread, but Edmunds also struggled before this DL upgrade, which has totally unleashed Milano into a top tier LB. Quote

When White comes back, you then have to shuffle the other guys who have played great in his absence. Really, co-MVP though the first half of the year (with Allen) has to be the secondary. Way to step up by the rookies and Jackson getting even better with White and Hyde out, going against some great offenses. (although you could also argue Miller, or the DL that has stopped the run and helped the LBs. This is how a team that wins a Super Bowl roles. Lets get it done!!!) mrags Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Based on age alone I’d say we should role with Edmunds over Poyer. Based on availability and injuries, we should absolutely role with Edmunds as well. personally I can’t stand Edmunds. He’s like the poster child for the physically gifted. Unfortunately his football smarts and awareness is not there imo. He’s one of those guys that’s in on every single play. Because he’s so special, physically. But when you look at it, he should be way more aggressive, he should be making splash plays. He should be pro-actively blowing plays up all over the field. But he is extremely reactionary and that bothers me. And personally I think it bothers the Bills too. For the money he’s going to get, you need someone that stands out and makes plays happen on defense. Not someone that gets lost in the shuffle, or swallowed up by blocks from much smaller RBs, WRs, and TEs. With all that said, I don’t think Poyer comes back either unless he takes a crazy discount and he’s shown he’s not interested in that. so next year I think we roll with Hamlin and Joshnon at S positions (I also don’t believe Hyde will be back to his old self). Bernard at MLB. We will likely not give Josh more weapons or protection in rounds 1-2 of this years draft and find replacements at MLB and S. That’s the most infuriating thing about the whole argument. Josh needs legit OLmen and help on O and he’s likely not going to get it. 1 Quote
YoloinOhio Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 (edited) All I know is I’ll be watching a bunch of boring QBs playing on Sunday. I’m spoiled fr with Allen. My Saturday QB is pretty exciting though 😱 Edited October 18, 2022 by YoloinOhio 5 Quote

Bangarang Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I don’t expect any moves. This team is now finally starting to get healthy and unless we get a deal that’s too good to pass up then I expect it to be quiet at OBD. Quote
