I’ve been watching Zappe the last couple of weeks and have been very impressed.

 

(Try not to laugh) but I see a bit of very early Brady in him. Not the goat Brady - the Brady that was more of a game manager in 2001.  Patient, calm in the pocket, smart decisions. 

 

I wouldn’t be surprised if Mac doesn’t hit the starting rotation again. He is 19/27 for 256 yards and 2 TD’s today.

He aint bad but I see just another journeyman in him to keep the Pats mediocre enough from getting a real QB and not good enough to win anything meaningful.

This isn’t a one game thing. 

 

Zappe has looked efficient for 3 games now.

He is very poised. Mentally I think he is more advanced than Mac

He's a serviceable starter for now.  It's always interesting to see if a young player can stay productive as the game tape starts to accrue.  He does look a bit better than Mac Jones, but can he maintain it.  See: Gardner Minshew

Zappe was an intriguing prospect and looks comfortable in his early starts. Lower floor, but he certainly has more upside than Jones. That was a smart pick.

I watched Zappe’s highlights from last week though.  He throws up a ton of underthrown floaters.  Not sure how he completes so many of them.
