Davonte Adams should be suspended a game

The fact the guy filed charges with the KC police puts the NFL in a tough spot.  I honestly think the NFL is going to land on two games, but if Adams was smart he would pay the guy to settle and then negotiate a 1 game suspension.  He is screwed if this goes to court.  You can't really argue with video and the DA and Assault Unit Detectives really have no choice but to charge him once the guy filed the assault claim. Pay the guy and make it go away.

yeah...it's definitely on how the nfl wants to handle it at this point.  it happened on national tv after a primetime game, so it's just not something you can sweep under the rug.  i agree that whatever adams does to get rid of this would be in his best interest.  if he can make it go away quietly/quickly, i don't think anyone will care in a few weeks.

So should Wagner be suspended for tackling the streaker, please discuss!

Streakers are committing a crime and one could argue posing a threat to Wagner and all the players.   The guy with the camera was doing his job.

Just so it's clear. If your emotions are high aaand your an athlete you can push a dude to the ground.  So when my emotions are high and a coworker walks in front of me, can I then shove them to the ground or no?  Do I have to be an athlete to be afforded this luxury?  I don't think anyone would give me grace whatsoever. Why is that?  Is it because I don't make millions entertaining people?  Honestly if the camera guy was any of your wives or kids and some random schmuck did this the excuses would not be existent.
Im not saying it was a life threatening shove or that the camera guy should seek legal actions, but I'm also not going to think that it was ok. Thats just my opinion and although I may not agree with a lot of them out there that are defending Adams,  I do value those opinions as well.

Not really precedence but a local 10-11 year old football had their entire season suspended for an accusation that one of the boys slapped a cheerleaders arm too hard in the high five line and left a welt.   That ended up being 5 games.

I should be surprised but I'm not. I'm a teacher and some of the stuff parents get mad about is crazy at times. I had a kid steal from me once. The item was brand new, still had the sticker on it and I had the receipt in my wallet. I called the parent and she defended him saying they just bought it last night.  Maybe the tie in right now is when did we start defending things that deep down we know are wrong?

This doesn’t seem like a big deal 🤷‍♂️

So, if he assaulted you, you would be okay with that, right?

I've been finding myself disagreeing with Florio a lot, but I think he got this one right:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/josh-mcdaniels-we-e2-80-99ll-comply-with-whatever-nfl-asks-needs-in-davante-adams-investigation/ar-AA12SC9G

Basically says in the video, that the NFL expects players to have an instant on/instant off switch where they turn it off immediately after the play, and that's totally unrealistic.  But says it's part of managing your emotions, if you know you're still revved up on a hair trigger from the game: stay on the sideline a bit, don't put yourself in a situation where you have to wade through a "sea of humanity".

Or, I would add, "buddy up" and ask an assistant coach or a trainer or another player to run interference for you.

Where'd you see this? I just googled it. Nothing.

There's nothing.  Suspensions/fines and other NFL actions usually come out on Weds, that is to say, today.

Are you seriously making an analogy between stopping a non-credentialed person that has absolutely no business on the field and could pose a threat to coaches and players, vs. laying hands on a credentialed photographer there to capture candid photos of players, in a league which specifically requires players to cooperate with PR and with the press?  Please discuss.

Yeah, this is a joke.  I'm sorry, but the guy pressing charges can kick rocks

I don't think people should press charges for every little situation, but I'm fine with this one.  If some dude walked up, punched you, and walked away, and you had no "real" injuries, it still warrants punishment.  Adams was completely unwarranted in what he did to a guy who had zero to do with him at all.

I'm not saying Adams should be punished severely either, but it warrants some punishment.  It honestly is probably a way for the guy to press a settlement out of him.

Charges are probably a means to gain leverage for the lawsuit. I’m sure Adams’ lawyers are already digging through the freelance photographers social media, etc to find out if he is a long term chiefs fan, litigious, etc. They can also attempt to move any trial outside of the area due to jury bias due from fandom as well. This could be interesting if it isn’t settled and swept under the rug.

Regardless of that, there will definitely be some changes to protocol going forward. There will be language written into contracts with networks and freelance employees. Likely extra security clearing out the tunnels….

You hear about people who end up dying from stuff like this when they hi their head on the ground and end up in a coma and have to be pulled off life support.  People think it's a joke but shoving some dude carrying equipment without any real way of protecting himself is a great way to cause something like that. Gotta be responsible for your actions.

If I were him I'd have asked for 10 years of season tickets and 100k plus some signed stuff and called it a day.

Just a guess, but if Adams had stopped, helped the guy up, asked if he was OK, and either asked for his card or asked a staffer to offer a contact number to "make good" any equipment damage/medical bills/lost work, and maybe some swag - my guess is the photog would quite likely have "called it a day".

Those guys depend upon the goodwill and good relationships with players to do their best work.

'Course, watching a Raiders player get sued likely won't hurt his relations with Chiefs players and personnel too badly

Rapaport blacking out the photographer's name and address at the top of the form, but leaving his first and last name clearly visible in the complaint.

Isn't he the one who leaked the photos of JPP's mangled finger from his confidential medical records? Or was that Schefter?

That's actually Adams' address.  Someone (tv station journalist AND the TV station) posted the entire document showing everything.

I think Schefter was the one who leaked the JPP stuff.
