i remember when our top of the line scoreboard was orange lights

 

i remember when Bob James tore a knee ligament and never played again

 

i remember when OJ wore #36

 

i remember when Hank Bullough took the sail out of our winds

 

i remember when we had a punt catcher

 

i remember when 3 of our best all-time players found out they’d been cut on the same day by watching the crawl on ESPN

I remember every time one of our 1st round busts went to another team, I'd see someone post that he would come back to haunt us.  Never happened.  Then there were other teams busts that we picked up, like Brian Brohm, who I was told we stole from their team because the poster "saw him play in college"

I remember a sloppy shitfest of a game against the Packers back when the defensive line was a bright spot. I think it was Jerry Hughes, Kyle Williams, Marcell Dareus, and Mario Williams.

 

Somehow we held out to beat them in a regular season game and it seemed like we had done the impossible. Every moment was agonizing as it took so many things going our way to pull that out. Wins don't come easy when you have no QB

My defining memory of the drought years will be all of the training camp sessions where I lived and died with every QB rep. A neverending shuffle of QBs that eventually failed in some tragic fashion or another. I was starved for positive reports about any one of the 3 QBs at camp. I cared so much about the stat lined put out by beat reporters. I looked for any glimmer of hope that one of these losers would suddenly become the franchise. It was just 4 years ago that Allen and McCarron and Peterman were competing for the job and it was a real competition for a while there which is just crazy in retrospect. Finally our patience was rewarded.

I remember when we would get to week 6 and people would start writing all those "coaches on the hot seat" columns and I would check in out of curiosity to see what the author had to say about our coach.  Now I can just skip over those articles because I know the Bills won't be mentioned except as a place for other teams to poach.

I am old enough to remember the 70's as well as 1984 and 85. What miserable times to be a Bills fan. On the flip side 80 and 81 were fun years.

I remember buying an authentic $300 Losman jersey prior to the 2007 season thinking the Bills finally found the answer at QB!
