Christian McCaffrey rumors

If Beane thinks this is the move to get us over the top of the rest of the league I'm all for it.  A rental situation (likely) so we'd need to be at peace with that.

It'd be sick though, break defenses in a lot of ways too. No more Cover 2 shells when you have to account for a top tier RB.

That’s nice but I’d still not give up a late first round pick for a potential one-year rental.

This is exactly where Beane was last year with Von Miller. He didn’t do it because he didn’t know if Von would re-sign. I believe it would’ve taken a 2nd to get Von as a potential rental.

I think Beane is all in this year. By any means necessary. He won’t miss out on strengthening this roster. He knows this is the last year with many of these players.

I don't understand why people are saying the 4-1 Giants are going to trade their best offensive weapon.

Are we going to take calls for Stefon Diggs because we are 4-1?

Yeah, the Barkley idea ended once Daboll started winning instead of straight tanking.

Wasn't there pre season rumors he was available? IDK, everyone isn't as "plugged" in as everyone else. Can we still at least like him ? :P

I would prefer OL help over CMC.

So nobody wants Barkely, the better RB, but fawn over CMC?  Interesting.

For the record, I'd be delighted with either and do not believe the Giants would part with Barkley.

No one should be arguing against making this team better.

So at first I rolled my eyes at this because of the size of his contract going forward. If the reports are true that he only has $1M guarenteed on the remainder of his contract, this is an easy trade to make.

I would generally prefer Barkley, but have no interest in his new contract.

Pass!  Way too much money for a part time player!!!!

15 carries, 105 yards - 4 catches for 26

25 carries, 108 yards - 2 catches for 7

8 carries, 27 yards, 9 catches for 81 yards

14 carries, 54 yards, 7 catches for 50

Those are his last 4 games. Dude is one of the best all-purpose RB's... ever.  Yes, he was hurt in 2020 and 2021. But before that? Hell, 2019 he had 1400 yards rushing w/15 touchdowns and 1,000 yards receiving!!! He can go off with any carry or catch.

Look, Barkley is probably the better RB but their situations are very different. Barkley has a high salary number in the last year of his deal. CMC has the majority of his cap hit this year in bonuses already paid and would have negligible cap hit, while giving the Bills two more years of control.

Do people really think solving the "Bills can't run" begins with the RB or the fact that the OLINE has no push?  Would taking on an injury prone RB solve anything with how this OLINE blocks?

You're not going to get better at O-Line.  O-Linemen are nearly impossible to trade for, there aren't enough of them around.  Getting a guy who can produce on a garbage team like Rhule's panthers forces teams to respect the run on top of accounting for the pass.

I don't think this trade is gonna happen but man it'd be fun.

I don’t see why Carolina would sell him off.
If they want a proven coach like Sean Payton or something I would think having CMC around would be a selling point for that coach.
That team is not that bad, Rhule made them that bad. They have Corral sitting on IR. They don’t have the ammo to go get a proven quarterback and are destined for a top 5 pick if not #1 overall. What’s the point in dumping mccaffrey unless you are confident he’ll never be healthy.

As someone who's hugely in favor of adding McCaffrey, I'll say this:

I fully realize that he won't solve the o-line blocking issues, and I still want to add him.

For one thing, he's as much an addition to the passing game as he is the running game. Diggs and Davis out wide with McCaffrey and Knox underneath? Fuhgeddaboutit!

For another, you can only fix one thing at a time.

McCaffrey doesn't improve the offensive line. He also doesn't improve the cornerback depth chart or add safety depth. What he DOES do is improve the running back room and the passing game drastically.

Simple question: Would adding Christian McCaffrey improve the Buffalo Bills roster?

I don't see how the answer could be anything but "yes".

Because an old RB isn't a great piece in a rebuild.
