I think Stevenson is likely to either sit on IR indefinitely, or get an injury settlement.

How is Stevenson still on this team?

As far as pure pass catchers my order would be:

1. Diggs

2. Davis

3. Knox

4. McKenzie

5. Shakir

6. Hodgins

7. Kumerow

Crowder is likely out for the season and will lose his spot to Shakir anyway. I wouldn't waste alot of targets to Kumerow when they can go to the kids.

I can’t quite figure out whether OBJ rumors are legit.  If the Bills sign him, he’s going to likely bump Shakir or Crowder (once he returns) off the roster.  If you were going to add to a position group on the roster, you otherwise wouldn’t add to WR.

Im not sure if OBJ is as big of a priority as Von Miller makes you believe but I guess we’ll see.

He’ll be on IR all season long

There’s no chance of him ever getting bumped off the roster until his contract is up

I understand this point....but the benefits of adding him greatly outweigh any cons to me.  Look at Diggs.... "Diva"

I do recall that, but Ian Rap had an article yesterday...teams mentioned were Bills, Rams, Chiefs, Packers and Bucs

It could well be a keep him off the other teams move as well as long as he realizes he is #3 behind Diggs and the Archangel Gabriel

I'm not a fan of "diva" personalities and I disliked OBJ for many years.  I did not want to see him in a Bills uniform.  My perspective has changed.  I think he's grown up and matured.  Plus, if you look back at the Cleveland situation, it's looking like Mayfield may have been more of the cancer in the locker room than OBJ.  From what I saw last year, OBJ put his head down and went to work with the Rams.  I don't recall any diva-like or controversial behavior.  He was a huge factor down the stretch and was one of the best players on the field in the Super Bowl before getting injured.  Finally, Von Miller is a class act and a mature veteran leader.  If he voches for OBJ, that means a lot.  Diggs does too.  I don't see OBJ being a distraction in THIS Bills locker room.  Crowder is likely done for the season, so I think the practice squad guys (Hodgins, Gentry) hold down the fort until OBJ is ready in November, then he signs.  Shakir is showing some great talent - out wide, in the slot, and even in the return game.  Adding OBJ will not bump Shakir off the active roster.

Again....Bills have very little cap space. Why do people think the Bills can make a significant trade?

Again….the cap is fluid.  If we need room, we make room.  Why do people think that teams can’t make more room?

Lets can the OBJ talk, we dont need a prima dona WR here, why risk/disrupt possibly the best offense in the NFL.

Lets not make this topic about OBJ.   OBJ is NOT on this team. Lets talk about who IS on our team.  Plenty of OBJ topics below.

Allen leads the league in yards and TD passes.  More talent is better but what problem are we trying to solve with an additional WR?   I know there have been injuries but most guys are coming back.  Other positions may be thinner than WR.

I'm 50-50 on bringing OBJ in, but 2022 OBJ is much different than 2018 OBJ. Some guys just need to mature.

Owens was a prima dona, but just worked hard on a pretty bad Bills team.

Chad Johnson matured and was just a good player for the Pats

OBJ did the same with the Rams last year.

Wasn't Diggs supposed to have a bad attitude?

just floating that out there for a different perspective

I agree. Crowder is the only potential season long injury out of expected contributors. I loved the signing, but he was underwhelming.

Shakir fights for the ball more than Crowder did. With teams having their hands full with Diggs and Davis, a smart player like Shakir should be able to find holes in the defense and make plays. Not seeing much drop off from Crowder to Shakir.

McKenzie slides back to the gadget/ spark plug role he had when Buffalo had Diggs, Davis/Sanders and Beasley in the slot.

If Hodgins can play special teams like Kumerow did, then not seeing much drop off there either, and Kumerow should be able to return shortly.

I think Kumerow is probably active over hodgins simply for blocking and special teams.

What are your thoughts on this receiving group going forward?

Assuming McKenzie is healthy next week, Shakir looks to have earned getting significant snaps.  He's already shown he can line up in the slot or outside.
When Diggs or Davis need a play or two off, Shakir takes those snaps. He can also split time with Isaiah in the slot.

In 10 Personnel :  Diggs, Davis, McKenzie, Shakir

Let's say we go "all in" and acquire another weapon at WR in the next month, whether it's OBJ or someone unexpected via trade.
I believe this is sensible as both added insurance and also to make this team even more unstoppable.

Diggs
Davis

*Sign/Trade

Mckenzie
Shakir

Kumerow

Hodgins

Stevenson
Gentry

A bit of intrigue would be if Marquez Stevenson is healthy later in the season.  Has he shown the staff enough to warrant playing time?  I personally don't believe he has earned it, but I wasn't at Mini camp or Training Camp

*If we add OBJ and line him up outside in 11 personnel....Diggs can line up in the slot which is a huge mismatch and he's shown to be elite when lined up there.
No defense in the league has the capability to deal with a Diggs, Davis, OBJ package.   Add Shakir and McKenzie rotating in, with occasional 5WR spreads..... scary

I will also say that team chemistry should be considered when adding a new WR.   The fact that Diggs is friends with OBJ, openly stated he'd like him here and of course Von; it makes a lot of sense to me. Others may disagree and that's fine, I get it

I like the idea of Hodgins getting more targets.
