Miyagi-Do Karate Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 A friend of mine sent this to me. I have never seen it— pretty catchy! 2 1 Quote
The Dean Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 Hard to believe this is the first time you have heard that. It's from the late 70s-early 80s I think. Corniest/hokiest stuff ever, IMO. And how can anyone forget the Chicken Lady? 3 Quote

The “Cleveland Riviera” will take come getting used to. Hopefully they at least figure out how to keep the river from catching fire. 🔥 1 Quote

T&C Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 I like it, have seen it before. This is how it was... think of the weather news guys moving magnetic symbols around on a board of the USA when reporting the weather. Sometimes I think simpler was better in some cases. Quote
Wacka Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 (edited) Talking Proud was also what was played after scores at the stadium before they came up with the Shout! song. And I remember Barry Lillis (before he dried out and became a minister) sticking wet paper towels on the map over the south towns saying that there was going to be a soaking rain there. Who can forget the chicken lady? Edited October 8, 2022 by Wacka Quote

Nextmanup Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 I wonder how many posters here do NOT remember the "Talkin proud" commercials. It's probably MOST folks here. As an aside, I just watched it again for the first time in years. I couldn't help but notice the downtown area looks pretty much exactly the same now as it did then, and this thing was shot in 1980. That's over 40 years ago. Quote

Talking Proud song, waving Whammy Weenies, smoking a pack of cigarettes by halftime and the doing the wave at least once during every series of downs, defined the game day "in stadium experience" in 1980 and 1981. And we loved it! Lol... 1 Quote
Wacka Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 The Whammy Weenie was not banned because it was a weenie, it was the banned because the writing on it was lead-based past. Quote

LabattBlue Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 I'd love to know what the director said during the filming..."we need you to be walking while looking like you are about to fall over". Quote

Before my time but I remember going to games in the 90s and the things that stick out were people bringing huge Binoculars and AM/FM radios and headsets to listen to Van Miller calling the game 1 Quote
