without a drought
It wasn't the NFL, but Joe Starky's "Oh, the band is out on the field! He’s gonna go into the end zone! He got into the end zone!”

"The most zany, unbelievable, absolutely impossible dream of a play... Madden is on the field. He wants to know if it's real. They said yes, get your big butt outta here!" "The kick is up and it's good! There's no time left! The Chargers are standing...looking at each other...looking at the sky! They don't believe it! Nobody believes it! I don't know if the Raiders believe it! It's not real! This one will be relived...............FOREVER!" And the funny thing is...even back almost 50 years ago...Chargers gonna Charger... This has to be in the running for the flat out best live, play-by-play call, in any sport, ever. I mean it's WAY up there.
Irish Dave
Van Miller had such a great high pitch "Raspy" voice. Nothing against John Murphy, but I never warmed to his deep voice (he was better as Van's booth analyst 1

Just absolutely brutal. I’m trying to remember … I think it was the incredible Hyde INT in the playoffs last season when Murph’s called sounded like “Deep pass downfield. Is it caught? No? I think it’s intercepted. Yes, intercepted by Micah Hyde in the endzone” No emotion from insane plays like that. Van would have been like “Deep pass downfield… oh but here comes Micah Hyde… INTERCEPTEDDDDD. Bills ball! Bills ball! What an incredible play. The Bills ***** it away from the Patriots! It’s fandemonium here in the stadium”. Murphs play calls suck so much that it angers me. He is ruining radio calls during Josh Allen’s reign. Just FYI - I didn’t curse here. The system turned sn-atch into ***** for some reason. . Murphy lacks the technical competence to deliver anything close to a great play by play call. I've said this as long as he has been calling the games--I genuinely cannot believe he has that job. It must not be nearly as competitive or desirable a gig as I would have thought. Low Positive
Maybe not the best one, but they did name the play on the spot.

Charles Romes
And this is for the 2000 boys…OJ running left…FIVE more!…maybe more…maybe SIX!!! I love the “maybe SIX!!!” part of the call because it encapsulated how you watched Bills football in those days. Counting OJ’s yards, yard after yard every single yard. Right place, right time. Probably didn't hurt he was a sports anchor for a long time as well in Buffalo.

Let's Go Buffalo
3 hours ago, buffblue said: Ian Eagle's call of the Dalton to Boyd TD pass against Baltimore to break our drought. Just a very memorable call given the significance (one team in, one team out) and unlikelihood of the play. Bonus points to everyone's favorite Dan Fouts correctly pointing out pre snap how Boyd was being single covered. One of my favorite plays period, and it didn't even occur in a Bills game You beat me to this one! I definitely agree. I was watching the game with my son, and almost lost hope on that 4th Down and Long Play, and then it happened. The connection to Boyd.....and the "Drought" was over. I still hear the words of Ian Eagle, "REMARKABLE" .... ringing in my ears!

skibum
I always get a kick out of color man Mike Mayock's call on the replay of the Beast Quake run. "...Get OFF Me! He says... To Tracy Porter!" It's not a true play-by-play, and Van Miller alone probably had dozens of better calls, but it's the only one I can think of of the top of my head right now. Tom Hammond, the play-by-play man on that game, said later that he intentionally held back on the call as it happened, because he didn't want to ruin the moment with too much jabber. He also said he gave Mayock "the hand" during the run, to shut him up so the fans could enjoy it in its purest form.

Sometimes it makes me think he's barely paying attention. Edited October 8, 2022 by Rubes
ChevyVanMiller
It will happen on February 12th, 2023. FOX play by play man Kevin Burkhardt is on the call. "It's 4 and 1 from the 1-yard line and the Bills are foregoing the tying FG and are going for it right here. Josh Allen is under center, he takes the snap and fakes the handoff to Singletary. He rolls to his left and is going to try and bootleg it into the endzone. Eagles linebacker T.J. Edwards closes in. Allen trucks him into the turf and Superman dives to the pylon. The Bills win, the Bills win their first Super Bowl in dramatic fashion. Rejoice Western New York, you have Lombardi and no one can ever take it away." RobbRiddick
I enjoyed Miller's "it's fandemonium..." bit during the comeback. Also Dick Enberg's "first down at the 20... oh my!" during the first drive against the Raiders in the championship game. And Jackie Smith's drop in the SB (can't remember the announcer) "oh bless his heart, he's got to be the sickest man in America" Enberg was my favorite, really miss that guy. Also, when watching some of the Thursday night game it really dawned on me how much Al Michaels has gone downhill. He used to be so good but I guess age is catching up to him 1 hour ago, Chandler#81 said: It’s OK, nobody agrees with him. Murphy is getting better to the point of being acceptable. Maybe I'm wrong but I get the feeling he's a very angry man who can only be calmed by copious amounts of fatty foods
