I always wondered this, hoping someone wants to give their take. What did I miss? Why did this dude have a trial for shooting his own dumb self?

If I remember correctly he had a loaded gun in his pants when he went to a club and it accidentally went off. Pretty sure Stevie mocked him as part of a TD celebration.

Discharging a firearm in a crowded NYC bar is frowned upon. I don't think he had a permit to carry in NYC either. But could def be wrong.

In NYC it's very difficult to get a permit for a handgun, and there are also rules around carrying it concealed, loaded, etc...

Concealing a (loaded) gun without a permit

 

I believe some of the charges related to the shooting itself were dropped, but he was eventually convicted / imprisoned on illegally owning the gun.
