The MVP chants were frequent in the stadium today.

Well I can say the MVP conversation for Jackson has ended. At least for this week. This is why I’ve continuously said and stand by comments that Lamar is a great athlete but as a QB he leaves a lot to be desired. He has those tendencies like Tyrod, if his first and second reads aren’t there then he’ll just take off running instead of being patient and scanning the field. He relies too much on his legs and most of the time it works when defenses aren’t prepared or on their A game. But when defenses are either on their A game or they adjust, he can’t seem to handle it and he struggles big time.

And if Baltimore won, regardless of the stats, Lamar would have been the talk as this was head to head.

So yes it was an important win for the Bills (as 2-2 with KC in two weeks) was huge.

NFL Live just confirming that Lamar missed not one but two wide open receivers on the fourth down play.  Also as expected, Lamar was locked in on Andrews, which is very much one of the concerns with him.

As I said this was not about the MVP, more so about how the some were setting this game up and the fact I do all of them were in Lamar's corner.

Face it if the Bills lost this would have been used as a talking point at the end of the season.

Lamar is a top 5 QB in this league but he's not going to have much leverage for a better deal if the Raven's keep blowing big leads because it's on him and the offense to keep the foot on the pedal as much as it is the defense giving up points in bunches.

He will get his money but is he top 5?

223 passing ypg good for about 20th

11 passing tds tied for best in NFL

4 ints (NFL leader has 5)

5th highest qbr

4th highest qb rating if you prefer a more traditional stat

15th best completion %

That is before you add in his rushing.

9th most rushing yards

2 additional rushing tds

Combined:

Most tds in the NFL

Over 300 ypg generated

Leading the 3rd highest scoring Offense.

He might not be in the top 5 but he is somewhere around there.  He will get his money due to the nature of the position and he will have earned every bit of it.  The Miami loss is entirely on the defense unless scoring 38 points isn't doing enough somehow.  Yesterday you can put some blame on the offense.  However the Bills have one of if not the best defenses in the NFL.

IMO he especially if you can't name 4 or 5 other QB's you would take over him in the bigger picture.

Allen and Mahomes are the only ones I would take over him right now. Not including guys like Brady and Rogers because they are in the twilight of their careers.

I'd also add Joe Burrow to that list, ,maybe Herbert but he still has to at least make the playoffs first. And guys like Dak Prescott and Kyler Murray may have got paid but they aren't better IMO, same thing with the ridiculous Watson trade and deal and he's not even top 10 probably.

someone else upstream already tried to explain this to you.  Jackson made a good throw and Poyer made a great play on it.

How many more posters would you like to pile on your soft take?

Good throw if he was playing catch in his backyard. His WR was open the second he cut to the corner. Lamar didn’t see him initially and kept backing up because of pressure. The throw was terrible, took forever to get to his target. Poyer made a great play, but the throw was still really bad.

The throw was not great. He just lobbed it in there. That's how Poyer described it too, I think. He was on the run and under pressure, so that's fine, but saying it was a good throw is not really accurate. It was a throw to an "open" receiver, but there was nothing good about it.

The playoffs will determine his fate.  If the Ravens go out in the first round or don't make the playoffs, they are not giving him the money he wants.  The knock on Jackson is that he is not producing in the 4th quarter or in playoff games.  It is a fair criticism.  They just don't score in the 4th quarter of games or in the playoffs.

I don't think Josh cares this much about the MVP.

Not the point at all. I was just highlighting something I saw last week that made me see red. Isn't that the point have a discussion section?

Are you talking about the Poyer pick? I mean the pass was on mark just late and Poyer made a great play.. And remember Lamar was backing up like 15 yards behind the line of scrimmage by that point due to the pressure. It's not like he was just sitting back there scanning the field.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic though since Allen did in fact miss a wide open receiver just last week on 4th down with no pressure.

And another the week before to Kumerow.

He had a guy wide open on the left side of the field from the snap all the way though the pressure. He didnt see it because he never looked to that side of the field.

what physical limitations led the most physically gifted QB in the NFL to make "a physical mistake"?  Did he develop a sudden arm weakness or visual deficit that made him miss a nearby receiver?

Heat exhaustion.  The guy was on the field for 90 plays and threw 63 passes in 100 degree humid temps.  Guys were dropping all over the field.  Josh said he didn't feel right until Friday. That drive was 19 plays with 8 straight passes followed by 3 runs for 17 yards with a couple 1 yard RB yards mixed in and lasted over 8 minutes of game clock.  The dude was so exhausted he laid his head on Tuas shoulder.  You really can't see why he might have lost some arm strength in those moments? Come on now.  Ever do physical labor for 3+ hours in 100 degree temps?  If ya have you wouldnt need to ask.

How many points have they scored in the second half over the last two weeks?  I dont care how many points you score in the first half.  If you dont move the ball and put up more points in the second half the other offense can do the same thing.  They would have only had 7 points in the first half if not for the gifts from our offense just like Miami.

So you too say Josh would never (and hasn't ever) made a mental error in the Red Zone or with goal to go?

I’ll book this bet. The Ravens have already offered him over $49M per year and $133M guaranteed (a bit of an insulting guarantee). If you think that they’re, “looking to move on” you have no idea what that looks like. If they can’t get it worked out they’ll go the Cousins route and continue tagging him.
