And then they ran out of time…..

No…they take the clock prior to that last play…they shoot for the end zone at the 15… not over the middle plays.

When I watched it again, I couldnt believe how far back the Miami player whose butt blocked the punt was. If he taken just one more step back, the ball would have hit him under his butt and bounced down into the endzone. Bills could have covered it for a TD. In addition, had the Dolphin player been slightly further forward the ball would have been partially blocked and gone forward and only come out of the endzone maybe to the 20, which once again puts the Bills in an excellent position to win with a short field. All told the Bills didnt get any breaks in that game.

I'd call the Dolphins punting one, unpressured, off of a guy's butt for a safety with less than two minutes remaining to cut it to 2 a "break" for the Bills.  Could have been a better break, but a break nonetheless.  But other than that?  Yeah, we didn't have much in the way of luck.

it’s not much of a stretch.  The moved the ball about the same distance down the field that they did on the final drive would have put them inside the15 with end zone shots.

And how many drives did we watch that very game where they were unable to get the ball in the endzone?  Had they been able to do that on any of the many possessions they had deep into Miami territory, we wouldn't even be having this conversation because they would've won the game without needing any late game heroics.

Given the struggles to get it in the endzone, only needing a FG to win was probably best case for them.  They had a minute and a half to get into FG range.  They were physically spent and couldn't get it done.  End of story.
