Any peeps here reside in or are familiar with the Utica area?  I’m going on a work trip there soon (Fri/Sat), and I need some good food/bar recommendations.

Particularly interested in hearing about bar recommendations for places that serve food and are open until midnight.  Staying near downtown Utica.  Have Uber to get around.  Thanks y’all and go Bills!

ehhhh…not my vibe.  I’m 43, married with 2 kids, and pretty well beaten down by life.  Just looking for some beers and decent bar food until midnight 😂

I kid! I kid! I’m sure with the folks here you will get some good suggestions. You can find a few little “homes away from home”. I always liked little trips like that and finding new little haunts.

Sounds like you could use a little Utica Hookers and Blow. 😁

Not restaurants per se:

Caruso's Pastry Shop on Bleeker - as good as anything you'll find in Boston's North End.

Roma Sausage Co. - also on Bleeker. Kickass hoagies and grinders, stromboli's too. And you have to try the tomato pie.

Danielle Imports - 1556 Mohawk. Italian deli.

I always like to try to take food that a city/region is known for.

Tomato pie seems to be a Utica thing.

This place is known to be one of the first to make them over 100 years ago and is still standing ... https://uticapizza.com/

Not a fan of O'Scugnizzo's. (pr: oh-skoog-NEATS) There are better tomato pie places just up the street like Roma's or Napoli's.

I don’t know if I’ve ever been to Utica in my life, but I have heard that the city is known for its Italian cuisine.  The tomato pie sounds like a great lunch idea.  East Utica Greens came highly recommended by a colleague of mine. Not sure what they are.  Looks like sautéed greens with bread crumbs, hot peppers and pecorino romano.  Worth a shot.

Utica is where the NY mob sent people to "cool off." The food followed.

Turning Stone Casino isn't too far from there, if gambling is your thing.

They actually have some nice restaurants there. And the buffet was really good but I haven’t been there since the pandemic. Plus they have the Caesar’s sports book to watch games.

Unfortunately, the Utica Comets hockey season starts on October 17th, when you'll already be done with your trip.

Otherwise I was going to suggest taking in a little AHL hockey while there.

I have no idea what else there might be to do in Utica, NY.  Looks like you got some good pointers.

There are good restaurants everywhere!

Not planning on the casino for this trip, but I definitely want to take the wife some time for a Saturday night/NFL Sunday trip.  She can play the slots while I hang at the sports book and bet on games.  Is it nice?
