Pete Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 Promo. He asked for more football posts. Maybe he is tired of reading your views on Lindsay Lohan. 337898 I am sure Promo can speak for himself. BTW if a thread is labeled OT and has Lindsay Lohan in the title it should be easy enough to avoid if you are looking for football posts

He started an entire thread about wanting more football posts. Lori started one. So did I. Now, try to relax, OK?
erynthered Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 Some pretty good posts in this thread. Though, this is whats going to happen. This is Bill and Drews last year in the NFL. Mark it down. Oh, and as far as 05 for The little d, 6-10.

Alaska Darin Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 I could be WAY off here, but I remember last season when Drew, in an interview, noted the fact that the Bills play "smashmouth" football, and didn't have any rushing TDs. This of course was while Travis was the starter. Does this ring a bell? I remember thinking that MM was going to be pissed off when he heard this, and I am thinking that this particular remark entered into his release as well. 337900 Tough to be smashmouth when your quarterback can't regularly make a defense pay for putting 8 men in the box. I doubt seriously that anything Drew said in the press had to do with his release. I think his inability to improve any of his decade long and glaring weaknesses had everything to do with it - as well as the dumbing down of the playbook for same.

Willis offers this football team a completely different dimension at RB. The Bills started winning when he took the field. I am also glad that MM is no longer a rookie. If JP is any good at all, I feel that he has some decent talent to work with. If not...........whatever.
dave mcbride Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 I think that Parcells proves everyday on the job that much of the credit for his "great" coaching goes to the staff that he had assembled in previous stints. 337693 i'm sorry, but this is damn foolishness. who in god's name hired belichick, weis, coughlin, crennel, carthon, etc. in the first place?? isn't identifying good position coaches and coordinators the sign of a great coach?? this mythology that parcells somehow isn't as good as belichick based on the wacked out logic that he hired belichick (and that's what the logic is, deny it all you want) has got to stop.
dave mcbride Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 I think he suffers from his own ego. I'm not sure that his assistants are "lousy" but I don't think they're of the caliber he enjoyed in NY or NE. He's now changing the team around because he can't win with a small fast defense and he's once again brought in a dwindling veteran signal caller. Has the game passed him by? I'm not sure but he seems to be desperately clinging to the past - which is kind of the antithesis of what today's successful coaches are doing. 337726 darin, i love your posts, but he had one down year. it happens. the fact that he went 10-6 with quincy carter -- who to my eyes is godawful, and i've seen enough of him -- is a ticket for the hall of fame.
canbuffan34 Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 I agree...the NFC is weak, there is no reason that the Cowboys can't finish second in their divison (the Giants and Redskins will continue to get worse, before they get better), and pick up a wild card spot with a 9-7 record. A lot of this, of course is reliant more on how well all of the Cowboys defensive draft picks perform, more than anything. On offense they should be pretty decent. Bledsoe is a slight upgrade over Testeverde, they have a decent WR core, a better than average O-line, and Julius Jones gives them a great threat. One thing Bledsoe will have in Dallas, that he never had in Buffalo, is a great Tight End. Jason Witten is only a notch below guys like Gonzalez and Gates. It is amazing the difference that can make in offensive production. 337469 I have to disagree with what you said about Drew vs. Vinny! Testaverde came out statistically ahead of Drew in nearly every category last season including TD passes, yards completed and most importantly sacks allowed!
