0-7 in close games since last season isn't good.

This narrative is so wrong. Its more like when they get beat… the just barely get beat.

I've been saying it for years...McD is not a championship caliber coach. I always hope he evolves, but I don't think it's gonna happen.

One could argue we have missed at least one year of our championship window...possibly two.

Will this organization be content with being a contender, or will they look to shake things up if they aren't meeting their ultimate goal?

Diggs had to come off the field every other play in the 4th.

McKenzie had to go out multiple times.

100 degree heat index and no shade.

Thats what we dealt with today.

Seriously??? They play there every year and haven't had so many players cramp up or have to leave the field as they did today. New England played there with a 108 degree index. Guess how many players they had leave the game? Zero!!!

The play to Gabe in the endzone wasn't going to be overturned.  The problem on 3rd and 22 is we only rushed 3 guys.  We were getting pressure on Tua all day.  If anything we should have blitzed 5 and given him no time to get the ball way downfield.  I was livid at that defense.

Let’s talk about what-if it wasn’t overturned.

Would that have been the worse thing?

The players were exhausted, it was about to be third down, we need to get in the endzone - would the extended timeout have been good despite the chance they lose the challenge?

Perhaps more fitting than calling timeout on the next drive on a random mid-field(ish) first down!

And still had a chance to win.

Also a dropped pick 6, a missed FG, 2 missed opportunities to get a shot at a FG, Gabe Davis dropping a TD, Josh missing Mckenzie in the end zone.

For sure, McDermott probably should have went out there and made the plays for them.

It's the NFL, you can't win every game.

We held the ball for 40 minutes on offense.

They were on the field twice as long as Miami’s offense.  Did we lose any defensive players from heat?

Our offense and defense was completely depleted.  What is your point?

Maybe they can win a close game for once and not cave when the going gets tough?

Relax - it's a long season.  Like I said we weren't going 17-0, and those who thought we were need to get real.

These posts make it on this board after every loss. It’s not gonna happen.

I agree about McDermott. There’s always that element of executing under pressure that they continue to be lacking. And they fail in bizarre fashion reflective of mental collapse. It’s exactly why the Super Bowl hype is misplaced.

But it was still winnable. We missed an easy FG. We bobbled a snap and then inexplicably threw a pass instead of grounding for another FG. Either of those gets kicked and we win. It’s a game of 2-4 key plays and the early fumble TD gave them some hope early.

I agree that Josh was a little off by the end. Our best guys on D and O were needing to overcompensate for hell breaking loose prior and then during the game.

He threw a grounder to an open receiver that probably would have been the winning score, and he took a sack late that ate a bunch of time.  He wasn't perfect but had a solid game overall.

Maybe the team gels around this ugly mess and springs ahead

A “move common to the game” does not exist in the endzone.

You can catch a touchdown and then stand still. And it’s still a touchdown.

Not true. You need to complete the catch and Davis did not.  DB made a great play.

McD was correct in not challenging that call.

Post mortem will show plenty of reasons for this heartbreaker…

For me, the biggest game day factor was our Loss of Poise…

-Unnecessary roughing penalties

-Lack of a running game and way too many forced passes… (67 passes??)

-Running away from the sidelines trying to get an extra yard in clock management situations…

We were simply out coached and out played today…

Upside is we can put all the Media Best Team  In Football talk behind us… and get back to work…

Every year McDermott improves on our shortcomings against the teams that beat us and these guys want to tear him down for the unknown of some supposedly greater coach?

I hate this place after a loss.
