SCBills Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 Poyer/Johnson Hamlin/Lewis Pretty sure that’s the answer. 1 2 Quote
Royale with Cheese Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 I think they’re comfortable with Hamlin and Johnson. 1 1 4 Quote
Virgil Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 It sucks to have lost Marlowe. I thought he played well and we could use the depth now. 1 Quote

frostbitmic Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 Cam Lewis has been working as both a CB and Safety, I'd expect him to be our #4 safety. Siran Neal was also a Safety before they moved him to CB. They could move him back to Safety as well. We should've had and should have going forward, a Safety on the PS. Quote

Ethan in Cleveland Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 Any chance they move Poyer to FS and they try the linebacker Bernard at SS? He's tiny but supposedly quick. 1 1 Quote
TBBills Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 (edited) Bills have great depth won't be noticed as much as the doomsayers are hoping. Edited September 24, 2022 by TBBills 1 1 Quote
Coach Tuesday Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 (edited) Jaquiski Tartt is out there and he’s an interesting player - also a top-3 name. Edited September 24, 2022 by Coach Tuesday Quote

That’s not to downplay how good they are, but McDermott and co. seem to be elite at identifying, scheming and coaching up the secondary. There was a lot of debate in Green Bay regarding Hyde with a number of fans and watchers saying he was better than current CBs. What Hyde showed there was flexibility doing different roles well there including safety, CB and MCB. He was free agent I wanted Bills to target most and they got him partly due to that flexibility. 1 Quote

Tartt was looked at by Eagles and they actually traded for a player instead so I do not think he has much left. Maybe sign to PS and elevate for a game if needed but better to get a younger player. Thomas is the obvious option if they still like him. Based on how his pre-season usage I wonder if Thomas fell out of favor here. He probably was #6 on the S depth chart. 1 Quote
Big Turk Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 Landon Collins is a damn good player...Bills should kick the tires very hard on at least bringing him in for a visit. Quote

Bernard at 6'1" in not small for a safety and tackles well which is required in Bills defense but he is too small; for role Poyer does; Poyer sometimes matches up with offense linemen occupying them so other defense linemen are free. If he plays safety he would be better in Hyde's role. 1 Quote

It feels like a great role for him. siran Neal? That could well be his future as it might better fit his skillset. I'm super excited about his future. I know his measureables aren't that impressive, but the same was true of Don Maynard and he's in the HOF. I know that's a remote possibility, but I'd wager he'll be a better player than Levi Wallace before long. 1 Quote

Johnson, Hamlin, and Lewis have been in this system awhile so I see them giving their guys a shot first before considering a different move Neal could adjust to safety and early on there was talk of Benford moving over Quote

Yep. Hyde was very good in Green Bay but his versatility hurt him. It felt like they lost DBs ever year to injury and he got shunted around to plug holes rather than getting a sustained run at a spot. So when the contract came due they didn't realise what they had and I was with you he was a guy I actively wanted them to target that offseason. Thought and said on here that he was a perfect scheme fit for McDermott. 1 1 Quote
