Opportunity for Leslie Frazier.

With six out of eleven starters out, Coach Frazier will face a career highlight opportunity. An opportunity that might put him in the front of someone's head coaching line. Good Luck Coach. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Leslie Frazier is old and a defensive coach.  The league likes young offensive minds.  It works.  Look who won the Super Bowl last year.  A young offensive mind.  Look at how the Dolphins turned their team around.  A young offensive mind.  Look at the Giants turn around.  A young offensive mind.   Even the Bills have to admit it was a young offensive mind, Daboll, and now Dorsey that turned the Bills around.  Our GM and head coach put together a great team, but it was our offense that made the Bills elite. The league likes points.  It is exciting and it leads to better fantasy/gambling interest.  The NFL is an offensive league.  Even Belichick is now a dinosaur.

Who would you hire right now?  Dorsey or Frazier?   No brainer.  I expect Dorsey will be gone at the end of the year.  My guess, Carolina.

But every thread devolves around him, I thought I'd just get moving in that direction.

Yup, the QB of the D that has allowed only 17 points in two games, that guy sucks…,

am I doing this right?

That's the ticket! And then I say something like, oh yeah Edmunds is so good, he even injures his own DBs just to intimidate other teams.

But seriously, the only thing Frazier can do to make the league forget about 13 seconds is to win games like against the "fastest offense" in the league with half of his defense tied behind his back. If he can do that, he will have plenty of interview opportunities come playoff time. Although it still hurts my heart that he missed out on the Chicago job. I wanted that for him.

Going in a different direction with this thread. I expect Dorsey is poached if Bills are successful this season. Think Brady, the QB coach who the Bills hired this year, is a W&M alumnus and also mentored under Payton and might be a possibility for OC if Dorsey leaves. Another great move by Beane & McD.

I agree, huge opportunity for Frazier.  I was going to select him in the "pick one player" thread but technically he doesn't qualify.  It is Frazier's time to shine, everyone knows we're shorthanded and yet I have a feeling this D is going to contain the Fish.

I also think it will take a good plan out of Frazier to do it.  I've seen people say "keep everything in front of you" stuff and I disagree.  Frazier needs to mix it up.  Letting the Fish keep it in front plays to the lack of arm strength of Tua.

And to the Bills2022, I believe you're jumping the gun a bit by claiming the Dolphins have turned their team around.  If Frazier shows the blue print to stifle the Fish in a decent beatdown with our backups, the whole narrative about the upstart Dolphins will come crashing down.

And often times those guys don't work out.  The skillset for a coordinator versus a head coach are completely different...almost to the point they are two different jobs completely.

We are not talking about his merits as a head coach.  We are talking about his merits as a DC and one of the best ones in the game for scheming and getting the most out of his talent on the field and ensuring backups are ready to step in and perform at a high level, which he is again, one of the best in the league at.

How offensive do most teams look against the Bills when 58% of the teams they play are unable to even generate 200 yards passing against us over the last 2+ seasons? We aren't talking 300 yards...we are talking 200 yards.  In a league all about offense where the rules heavily favor it, that's absurd.

Anchoring your new NFL regime around a guy like Leslie Frazier would make no sense at all.

Therefore, expect him to be hired as HC by either the Browns or Jets.

Really cool point.   I have no idea what Frazier's future holds, but shutting down that offense with this defensive lineup would be a signature achievement on his resume.

I still think there is a place for defensive minded Head Coaches. Head Coach is about a lot more than Xs and Os. McDermott turned the Bills around but it was Josh's development (McDermott played a part in that but so did the two OCs and obviously Josh himself) that made them Superbowl contenders.

But Frazier isn't getting another shot because it isn't just that he is a defensive guy. It is that he is a retread who is the wrong side of 60 as well. If Frazier had never been a Head Coach before and was 45 he would have been gone already to a HC opportunity. But trying to sell a fanbase on a 60 something year old, defensive guy, who failed in Minnesota 10 years ago is going to be tough.

I hope Leslie gets another chance but his age and being a defensive minded guy may hold him back from ever getting another opportunity

On the flip side, we are likely going to get a little preview of how our defense could look in a few years with JJ and Hamlin in the Safety spots.

Its not ideal to be down so many starters but I think we saw in the preseason that our young players can step in and perform really well. And of course our front 7 is still supercharged even without Oliver and Phillips. Could see a lot of Groot and Basham at 3 tech this week which won’t be good for a Miami team that isn’t running very well.

was everyone saying this with 13 seconds left? or were people blaming him for the formations he put the players in. The buck starts somewhere with the players... of course... but it ends with McD and has a dude named Frazier not to far back. If the DC can lock this game up with 21 points or less.. people will be talking about Frazier as HC at end of year.

The kickoff was just the initial blunder. Our coaches played the last 13 seconds like they didn’t understand that KC had timeouts remaining.
