People keep saying stuff like this... Hyde is the QB of the defense, Poyer is heart of the defense, Edmunds is another QB of the defense.. ok, cool.. All good players that were all on the field when we got ran over by power teams and thrown on by Mahomes.

This Defense is, and will be, defined by the Defensive Line.  There's a reason why Beane has been obsessive in addressing it.  It hides a whole bunch of flaws and is what matters in the Playoffs.

Fwiw, this is not normal

Definitely the team goes as far as the DL.

I suggest you look at other teams IR lists and injury reports then

Sucks to likely be without Dane and Micah, but let's not forget we have:

1. Benford: basically a Dane clone, with more upside

2. Elam: think he eventually takes over CB2 by end of season (so early/extra PT against the best WR duo will only help when playoffs roll around)

3. Johnson: this is sorta a Dane situation from past year, where you don't like the starter getting hurt, but nice to see what he's capable of in a starter role...bc he might be Jordan's eventual replacement.

Assuming Poyer plays, I think we are still in solid shape and hopefully can avoid any secondary injuries.

Unless Micah injury turns into longterm, and nothing is certain right now one way or the other, then we are OK short-term.  Micah, Jackson (miracle), and Tre are potentially then returning in the next 2-3 weeks.  At which point, 2 difficult roster decisions:

1. Lewis: is he cut or traded?

2. Gameday roster: once Tre and Dane return, which corner sits on gameday?

Just get thru these next couple weeks, hopefully unscathed and be back to normal.

We have a pass rush now so I expect (hope) Von and company make Tua's life very difficult in the pocket. Sacks, pressures, hits and lots of it.

Looks to definitely be out for Sunday. Just hope he will be ok and can come back healthy after the bye.

Against the best WR duo we will play this season 😡

I suppose if you are looking for a bright side, maybe a stinker of a game will get people to stop talking about this Bills team like the ‘72 Dolphins and the ‘85 Bears had a baby!

Sure, sure, but I mean if they did...

I’m worried he’s going to be out for a significant amount of time, if not IRd. Neck injuries are no joke

isn’t a neck injury what made Wood retire?

Mercy, I hope he is going to be okay. No Dane, Micah, Tre and most likely Jordan P. at the minimum vs Miami. Offense is going to need to put up a lot of points on the board to help the D. Hopefully our front seven can put pressure on Tua and force him into a few turnovers.

Benford and Elam are going to have to grow up quickly this week!

Benford and Elam do have the benefit of practicing against Diggs and Davis.

Definitely true but neither of them posses speed even close to Hill and Waddle

I can’t help but wonder if the doctor that evaluated his neck injury is the same one that dealt with Eichel’s neck injury. Dr. Cappuccino iirc? I think he possibly works for the bills and Sabres too iirc.

Elam and Benford will need to be sure tacklers this week as well as the rest of the defense. Let them catch the short stuff and lay the lumber to them. The DL have to shutdown the run to take away the playaction from the Dolphins.
