Talleywhacker might be a terrible QB, but he shows good closing speed when chasing down defenders to whom he has just thrown the football. Very impressive athleticism…

I don't understand why people can't comprehend that completing 4 touchdown passes in the fourth quarter means that Tua IS a great quarterback.  I mean the last QB to accomplish that feat was the great Sage Rosenfels and he went on to....oh wait....never mind.

I think Dolphins fans will be somewhat bipolar this season. I was enjoying the Dolphins board during the Ravens game last week. Seriously, for 3 quarters, every single person was saying things like “Tua sucks… we’re dead… why can’t we have a guy like Josh Allen, etc etc.”. At the end of the game it was “Tua is amazing. We’re going to the super bowl. Tua for MVP. Bring on Buffalo!”

Just feel like (until they string together some consistency) that could be the game-to-game story for Tua and the Dolphins this season.

We’ll see… but I have been wrong once before!

That is kinda funny… but pretty sure they meant in their first season as a coach..  but still.. “something special?”

Remember when we crowned Trent Edwards (and whomever that coach was) the saviors of Buffalo after 4 games?  Holy cow… way too early in the season for all this talk.

Agreed. We haven't faced a defense with Miami's quality yet, THIS season.

Blitz-heavy defenses gave a younger Josh Allen some trouble. I agree that this problem was fully solved last season. Hopefully that holds true throughout 2022. There was a dicey stretch even last week. It COULD happen. Never forget that effing Jaguars game.

I hope he stays that way and punishes them when they bring extra bodies, but also recognizes and adjusts when they don't. They like to muddy up the LOS pre-snap. Mug those gaps.

You’re curious about what Josh does against a blitz heavy attack? Go back to the beginning of the 2020 season, watch every game and then do the same for last season. You will learn two things: Josh absolutely destroys blitz heavy schemes and why teams seldom do it anymore.

Yeah, I know Allen’s recent track record against the blitz, and why teams now won’t do it.

But I agree with Noggin— don’t think this year’s team has really been tested on it. And people sort of forget that one dolphins game last year where the Bills didn’t look great for most of it, and turned it on in the second half to pull away.

The offense will be tested with pressure, and just hope we execute at the same high level that Josh has done so in the past.

I think that makes sense and is actually really reasonable.  Even if he IS going to be their franchise quarterback and is on his way to greatness, he is at a stage where he is going to have ups and downs.  I understand Phins fans who are given hope by what they saw last week....they should feel like they have seen a flash of what could be.  What drives me crazy is that there seem to be a lot who are saying, "That's it.  He has figured it out and is going to be MVP and future hall of famer."  This Sunday will be an interesting test for Tua, but he has many more tests to come before he is crowned as "the guy" in Miami.

The thing I like is that they are all fans of the game and aren't a "hot topic" machine like most other mainline media.

Granted they do throw a nugget in here and there but don't usually drool all over it for 20 minutes.

The clips are good, watching a whole show can be a tough slog.

The Dolphins tried man with pressure Week 2 2020 and got deep-crossered for 400 yards. It went badly then, it'll go worse now because their best personnel for playing man (and still getting torched) are unavailable and/or limited, and it's 2 years of experience beating the hell out of such coverage for the Bills.

It was actually a Fins fan that commented on their board (there's some knowledgeable posters there) that both the Rams and Titans played shell to take away the deep shots until the games started slipping away, but the very first play - the VERY first play - they went single high or cover-0, Allen went immediately over the top for a knockout blow. To paraphrase, "Allen's eyes are always downfield, always." Touchdowns first. Then come down to the gimme slants and outs where the ball is there before anyone can do anything about it.

You could see this developing the back half of last season. The Rams game was nothing but short rhythm passing the entire first half. It was the Brady formula, death by 1,000 cuts, until you couldn't take it anymore. And then, boom. If Allen can execute that, with the recognition that any deviation from shell, he goes straight to big-play mode... what do you do to stop it? You hope a slot guy lets the ball get to his chest and the ball pops up for a pick?

This was a tantalizing prospect even back to Allen's rookie season: if the kid ever learns to execute an NFL offense, he might be as unstoppable as any player has been. That potential is close to realized. It's something to see, it doesn't come often.

I will say that the Phins gave the Bills some issues last year in their second match up. They’re prolly looking at that game tape for scheme strategies. We also saw both the Rams and the Titans able to keep things close in the first half.

What we’ve seen so far is that DCs have schemes that slow the Bills down, but as soon as they big brain football themselves into a tendency or weakness they spot in the other teams defense…it’s all over.

A lot of legendary coaches have started a season 2-0. Just look at the Bills: Greg Williams, Dick Jauron, Chan Gailey, Doug Marrone....

So what Miami team do we feel like we’re going to see tomorrow?

First 7 quarters of the season Miami or 4th quarter Baltimore Miami?

Something in between?

Either way, I think we win … but I think a lot of people are underestimating the Bills and overestimating the Dolphins.
